Summary for Chapter 27: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 27 by Ansel Bick

The next day, as Bianca was discharged and standing near the hospital entrance, she saw Mathis carrying Cynthia into a waiting car. Cynthia had her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, an expression of pure bliss on her face.

Bianca had no idea when Mathis had suddenly developed a habit of carrying people, or if that privilege was reserved strictly for Cynthia.

It made sense, though. He had always treated Cynthia differently.

After all, she was his first love and the mother of his child.

Frowning, Bianca pulled out her phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to Hector Goodwin.

Hector replied almost instantly: [This angle is perfect! Keep taking photos like this whenever you can. With enough evidence of his infidelity, the judge will likely grant the divorce on the first filing.]

Reading those words, the dark cloud that had settled over her from witnessing the intimate moment instantly vanished. From now on, every time she saw them together, she would take a picture. It was all admissible evidence in court.

Once Mathis's car disappeared from view, Bianca hailed a cab and headed straight to Crestmont International. She picked out a sprawling, 1,900-square-foot luxury condo with a price tag of fourteen million.

She pulled out Mathis's black card. "I'll pay the full amount up front. Put it on this."

The sales agent gleefully swiped the card and drafted the contract. Bianca walked out with the keys in hand.

Seeing that Mathis hadn't reacted to the massive charge, she walked straight into a dealership and bought a Porsche. The card clearly didn't have a limit, so she might as well use it.

She moved into her new place at lightning speed and checked two major goals off her private to-do list.

That evening, while scrolling through social media, Bianca saw that Mathis had hosted a private, exclusive dinner party to celebrate Cynthia's upcoming new role at Progenix Tech.

She carefully scoured the photos, but only found one of them sitting together, and they weren't doing anything overtly affectionate.

Disappointed, Bianca tossed her phone aside. But a moment later, Mathis's obnoxious friend, Payton Mills, took it upon himself to send her a private photo from the dinner, clearly wanting to rub it in her face.

Payton gripped his phone tightly. *If I get one, I'm definitely sending it,* he fumed inwardly.

Unfortunately for him, he hadn't managed to capture a single intimate moment between the two of them all night. Failing to upset Bianca left him deeply frustrated.

On Monday, Bianca pulled up to work in her flashy new Porsche. Xanthe looked like she was about to go blind from the glare of the car.

"Where did you get all this money?" Xanthe demanded. "Your mother's life insurance payout isn't supposed to clear for another three months."

Bianca twirled the Porsche keys around her finger. "I swiped Mathis's card. I even bought myself an apartment and paid for three years of my grandmother Mabel's nursing home fees in advance."

Xanthe was thoroughly amazed. "You were married to the guy for three years and he never spent a dime on you. You had to take on freelance coding projects just to survive. Now that he's cheating on you, he's suddenly generous?"

"He's probably terrified I'll go nuclear," Bianca mused. "He doesn't care about the breach of contract penalty, but he's terrified I'll leak our marriage certificate online. His mistress would be publicly humiliated, and his own reputation would be dragged through the mud. After all, he's the CEO of a publicly traded company."
