"I'm completely immune to it," Bianca laughed softly.

She realized that once you stop loving a man, absolutely nothing he does can hurt you anymore.

If only she had never fallen for him in the first place.

On the other end of the line, Simon let out a quiet breath of relief. "As long as it doesn't bother you. Park your car at the building next to our hospital and walk over. Make sure you cover your face."

Hearing how unbothered she was actually made him happy for her.

"Got it. See you soon."

The moment she hung up, an unknown number flashed on the screen.

She answered, only to hear Mathis's cold, commanding voice.

"Where are you? I'll have someone set up a VIP pass for you."

"Save your special treatment for the woman on the side," Bianca rejected instantly. "After all, out in public, Mr. Jagger doesn't even know me."

"Suit yourself."

He hung up.

Bianca had Xanthe drive her to the hospital. On the way, she explained how Simon was secretly keeping Mabel safe.

"Wow," Xanthe remarked. "Mathis's friend is way more normal than he is."

"He's the only normal one," Bianca corrected. "His other friend buzzes around me like a fly whenever he sees me. It's annoying and gross."

Xanthe, not knowing Payton, scoffed. "Birds of a feather. Just look at the woman he's cheating with. A good woman would never catch his eye anyway. His brain tumor must have made him blind."

Bianca's heart swelled. "Xanthe, you really live up to your name, you know? Refreshing and comforting, just like a little stream."

Xanthe laughed. "Then send me a cash gift!"

Without missing a beat, Bianca transferred her a generous tip on her phone.

Hearing the notification chime, Xanthe grinned. "Call me before you're done, and I'll come pick you up. I'm your chauffeur for life now."

"Don't be ridiculous. If you don't start dating, your parents are going to drag you to blind dates. You don't need to pick me up; I'll just grab a cab. Go enjoy your day!"

At the mention of blind dates, Xanthe shuddered. "The men circulating the blind date market right now are absolute freaks. Going on one is basically asking to be tortured."

She recently had a date with a guy who claimed to be a hotshot executive. The second he sat down, he started bragging about his massive success and superior character.

All Xanthe could focus on were his horrible, overlapping teeth and the way he inhaled his food like a wild animal before ditching her with the bill.
