Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 8 by Ansel Bick
The mother and daughter spent half the day viciously cursing Bianca's name.
Completely unaware of the vile things being said about her, Bianca was deeply absorbed in her coding.
Like clockwork, Cynthia sent over another video of Mathis playing with their son.
Without a second thought, Bianca hit record on her screen just as Cynthia predictably unsent the video right at the two-minute mark.
Bianca decided to just taunt her directly: [That paternity test you sent me the other day was a fake. Did you really think un-sending it meant I wouldn't notice?]
To her disappointment, Cynthia didn't reply, robbing Bianca of any concrete evidence.
She was already prepared for the worst. So what if it turned into a drawn-out legal battle? It would take two years at most to be free. That was infinitely better than being trapped in this farce of a marriage for the next decade.
Since she didn't want a single cent of Mathis's money, taking the divorce to court guaranteed she'd eventually get out. It was just a matter of time.
But there was one thing that terrified her: her period was a week late.
She was terrified she might be pregnant, and she absolutely refused to have Mathis's child now.
...
First thing the next morning, Bianca ordered a pregnancy test for delivery.
Two glaring red lines stared back at her.
Her eyes burned and a cold sweat broke out across her scalp. That utter bastard was going to make her miserable right up to the bitter end.
She resolved to schedule an appointment at the clinic this weekend to take care of it. She needed a clean break. Having his child would only bring endless agony.
Besides, men only cared about children born to women they actually loved—one look at how he treated Lamont proved that.
Pretending she was meeting him for the very first time, Bianca gave a polite nod.
Mathis didn't react at all.
Standing to the side, Cynthia practically laughed out loud, her smugness screaming: So what if you have the marriage license? He still won't acknowledge you!
Bianca couldn't do a damn thing about her blatant disrespect.
Cillian sensed an incredibly strange vibe between the three of them, but didn't dwell on it.
Bianca was a girl who had suffered enough tragedy in her life; what possible connection could she have to a titan of the venture capital world?
He then proudly introduced Bianca to Mathis. "This is my brightest junior, Bianca. I brought her on as our Technical Director with a highly competitive package. I actually wanted her to join when I first founded the company, but unfortunately, she was tied down by her sick husband. Honestly, I don't know what was wrong with that guy, refusing to let his own wife work."
