"Pfft."
A few students sitting nearby, who had been equally annoyed, failed to hold back their laughter.
Faye flushed with embarrassment. She shot Juno a vicious glare but finally shut her mouth.
Rhiannon let out a dramatic sigh.
Thanks to Juno's interference, the rest of the lecture was peaceful.
After classes ended, Wyatt was waiting at the campus gates. His semester had already concluded, and he was officially on break, whereas Juno's vacation didn't start until the end of the month.
It had been a while since Juno last saw him.
At first, Wyatt was a bit shy, but as they started chatting, the awkwardness quickly melted away.
Juno took Wyatt onto the Northbridge University campus.
From the moment he stepped through the gates, his eyes were wide with awe.
"Wow, so this is what Northbridge University looks like!"
"There really is always a bigger fish. My community college doesn't even compare."
At his college, the campus was so small you could stand in front of the dorms and see the entire layout.
But Northbridge was different. It was an elite institution.
At his school, you could walk to class in minutes. At Northbridge, you had to ride a bike, and even then, it took a while.
His professors would constantly force students to attend random seminars just to fill seats, but a university like this valued its students' time.
Everyone here radiated excellence.
Different environments truly bred different kinds of people.
It was only upon entering Northbridge that Wyatt realized just how vast the world was and how many brilliant minds existed.
Juno didn't interrupt his awe.
As they strolled, Wyatt declared with absolute certainty, "I've decided. I'm going to get my bachelor's degree. I want to become better."
"I believe in you."
Rhiannon smoothly shifted the topic. "And this is..."
Wyatt stood up and introduced himself formally, perfectly polite. "I'm a friend of hers from college."
Rhiannon tilted her head, feigning confusion. "Shouldn't community colleges still be in session at this hour?"
Wyatt scratched the back of his head. "Oh, we're already on our break."
"Ah... I see," Rhiannon smiled. "You community colleges always get out so early."
The comment instantly made Wyatt uncomfortable.
He wasn't stupid. He could hear the blatant condescension in her tone.
It was standard for his type of school to let out early, while elite universities like this one finished later. That one sentence perfectly encapsulated her arrogance.
Wyatt didn't know how to respond.
Listening to the exchange, Juno set her fork down and shot back, "What, are you waiting for his funeral to go on break?"
The smile on Rhiannon's face vanished instantly. It was a brutal comeback.
