Watching the receptionist stammer in starstruck disbelief, Evelyn Reed couldn't help but sigh.
She arched an eyebrow. "Never mind. I'll find her myself."
Overwhelmed by sheer excitement, the receptionist actually fainted.
Evelyn had always possessed a bold personality, favoring vibrant colors that commanded attention. Today, wearing a striking red gown and killer heels, she sashayed effortlessly into the building.
Her gaze swept the room, instantly locking onto Juno Mercer.
Without a second thought, she strode over.
Juno didn't even have to move for Evelyn to recognize her.
Evelyn was part of the original crew who had followed Juno since the beginning. To her, Juno was both a mentor and a friend; their bond was unparalleled.
When she first heard the news of Juno's supposed death, it felt as though her entire world had collapsed. So, when Morgan called a few days ago, telling her that Juno wanted her to shoot a magazine cover in Kingsland, she thought she was hallucinating.
Seeing Evelyn approach, Juno set down her tablet and rose lazily to her feet. The moment she stood, Evelyn pulled her into a bone-crushing hug.
"Long time no see, Boss."
Evelyn was squeezing her so tightly that Juno could barely breathe.
Given Evelyn's current status and power, she rarely showed her emotions in front of others.
But right now, her eyes were brimming with tears.
Juno gently patted her back. "Long time no see."
Evelyn finally let go.
The commotion had drawn the attention of quite a few people in the office. Taking in Evelyn's flawless figure and stunning face, several employees literally squealed.
"The Empress!!"
Oh my god! This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment!
What had their magazine done to deserve such an honor?!
Her presence illuminated the entire room.
One editor, managing to keep it together better than the rest, stepped forward. "To what do we owe the pleasure of The Empress visiting..."
Evelyn was in a fantastic mood and responded politely, "I'm here for a shoot."
!!!
Quietly, a hashtag climbed into the top three trending topics online.
[The Empress Spotted in Kingsland.]
However, aside from her diehard fans, the industry professionals didn't pay it much mind.
Muse was completely in the dark about Juno's overarching strategy. Meanwhile, on the day of the sales launch, Ralph Wright hosted a celebratory dinner.
Muse didn't want to attend. She didn't even need to think about it to know he had malicious intentions.
"Go," Juno told her. "I'll go with you."
Muse's mind was elsewhere, and she looked anxious. "I just want to know how the progress is on our new issue."
"You don't need to worry. Everything is handled. Just go to Ralph's dinner and enjoy yourself."
Muse hesitated, but finally swallowed her anxiety and decided to attend.
She had no idea what was going on. Whenever she asked her own staff, they kept their mouths shut.
From start to finish, she felt like a complete outsider in her own company.
For a fleeting second, she actually wondered: was she even still in charge of this magazine?
