The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 126

Gwendolyn was furious. Hearing anyone speak about her daughter like that instantly ruined her mood.

Her daughter didn't have to live her life to please them. Gwendolyn would just spoil Juno herself.

With Gerda hospitalized, the will to throw the grand banquet was there, but the ability was not.

Stuck in the hospital, Gerda was constantly itching to leave.

Being cooped up made her irritable, and she couldn't even stand the sight of her own children anymore.

Harrison was the only one whose presence she found tolerable.

Harrison poured her some water. "Don't worry, Mom. We'll make sure Juno's birthday is wonderful. We won't let her feel neglected."

Gerda's expression finally softened slightly, though she made sure to shoot a glare in Gordon's direction as she drank.

Meanwhile, Rhiannon's party was being personally overseen by Matilda. Back in her prime, Matilda had been a remarkably influential figure with vast networks. Her guest list would undoubtedly be packed with high-society elites, giving Rhiannon incredible face.

On Juno's side, however, Harrison's notoriously arrogant and ruthless business tactics over the years had alienated countless people. Aside from those who felt obligated to attend for the sake of the Corrington family name, hardly anyone would likely show up.

Gwendolyn sighed, her voice gentle. "I always told you to treat people with courtesy. Look at you now—nobody is going to show up to support us."

Harrison went dead silent.

...

A few days later, Claire Ashworth dragged Juno out for a shopping trip.

Claire chattered non-stop the entire way. "You barely have any clothes, and you never seem to wear anything new! I am making sure we pick out a few nice outfits for you today, no matter what."

Juno didn't care about fashion at all. Back in Blackwood City, whenever YG released a new collection, it was personally delivered to her door, and she just wore whatever.

It was a blatant insult, calling her Rhiannon's lapdog.

Faye's face twisted. "What is that supposed to mean?!"

Juno turned around, utterly unbothered. "She means she's insulting you. What? Can't a top student from Northbridge University figure that out?"

Juno then shifted her gaze to Rhiannon. "Lost your voice? If you want to throw shade, do it yourself. Don't hide behind someone else to run your mouth. It's a pathetic tactic, and it only works because this idiot doesn't realize you're using her to bark on your behalf."

Surprisingly, Rhiannon didn't try to deny it this time. She simply admitted, "She's telling the truth. Grandma's network is vast."

"But they're not coming specifically for you," Claire pointed out.

Rhiannon sneered, dropping the sweet act entirely. "Regardless of why they're coming, they will be at my party. If you've got the guts, Juno, let's see whose party turns out bigger."
