Sebastian’s hands shook with sheer indignation as he gripped his files.
He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Juno’s number. He had to warn his sister about this arrogant jerk right now!
Chuck was classless, entirely full of himself, and an absolute eyesore!
But the call didn't connect. Instead, a very familiar ringtone started playing faintly from inside the office.
Sebastian paused.
Throwing basic courtesy out the window, he shoved the door open—and froze when he saw Chuck holding his sister’s vibrating phone.
They locked eyes. Before Sebastian could utter a single syllable, Chuck clamped a hand over his mouth and physically hauled him out into the hallway.
The moment the door clicked shut, Sebastian shoved Chuck away, his usually flawless manners completely shattering.
"What did you do to my sister?! Do you think the Corrington family is just going to let you get away with this?!"
Chuck stared at him coldly. "If you don't lower your voice, I'm going to drag you to the other side of the building to finish this conversation."
Sebastian felt his pride was being trampled on. Already furious, he scoffed. "Give me one good explanation. Why did you bring my sister into your private office? Looking for a quick thrill? You dress like a gentleman, but you act like absolute trash."
Perhaps out of respect for Juno, Chuck managed to keep his temper in check. "Anyone else in this world might try to hurt her, but I never will."
"Hah. Anyone can spout cheap lines."
"Believe whatever you want."
The two incredibly powerful men stood in the hallway bickering like immature schoolboys.
Miles returned carrying a massive bag of herbal medicine, blinking in confusion at the tense standoff.
Seeing that the argument wasn't ending anytime soon, he cleared his throat and addressed his boss. "Sir, I got the prescription. She needs to take it twice a day, morning and night."
"Prescription? For what?" Sebastian demanded.
Miles held up the pungent bags. "Ms. Mercer is suffering from severe period cramps. The holistic healer prescribed this special blend to help her recover."
Miles's straightforward explanation instantly killed Sebastian’s wild theories. His protective anger deflated, and he realized dragging Juno away right now would be a terrible idea.
He couldn't bear the thought of his sister being in pain.
Sebastian shot Chuck one last lingering glare. "Tell Juno to call me the second she wakes up."
Chuck gave a curt nod. He watched as Sebastian walked halfway down the hall, stopped, and turned back with a look of firm, yet guilty, sincerity. "Take good care of her."
Claire took a deep, exaggerated breath.
She gripped Juno’s hand tightly to offer moral support, yet she was the one trembling like a leaf.
Juno glanced down at their joined hands. "If you're this nervous, maybe you should go get some water."
"No! I'm completely zen!"
Claire kept her eyes glued to the stage. After the host's brief opening remarks, the contestants were called up one by one.
When Faye Ashworth confidently strode onto the stage, Claire aggressively rolled her eyes. That girl really loved being the center of attention.
Faye seemed totally composed, delivering her speech with practiced ease. But as Claire reluctantly listened, all the color drained from her face.
"That's your draft," Juno noted calmly.
Claire bolted upright. "I'm going up there to expose her right now!! Your speeches are identical! It’s fine for her since she went first, but you’re up next, which means everyone will think *you* copied *her*!"
How could someone be this shamelessly deceitful?!
Juno simply pulled her back down into her seat. "Speeches are just basic improvisation. I don't need a written draft anyway."
