The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 165

After quickly scanning the pages, the intruder carefully placed the draft back onto the desk, leaving the scene exactly as it had been.

Curled up in Chuck's arms, Juno could vividly feel the tension radiating through his muscles. "I'm fine, it's just..."

"Don't speak," he ordered, his jaw clenched tightly.

His expression was dark, masking a rare, undeniable panic.

He carried her all the way up to his private office. A couple of passing students stared in absolute shock, rubbing their eyes, utterly convinced they were hallucinating.

Kicking his office door shut, Chuck gently deposited Juno onto his plush leather sofa as if she were made of fragile glass.

Minutes later, Miles arrived with an elderly holistic healer in tow.

The healer checked her pulse, murmuring thoughtfully and occasionally asking a question.

But every time he asked about her medical history, Juno drew a blank. She knew absolutely nothing about this body's past.

Sensing her confusion, Chuck lost his patience. He stepped forward, his voice glacial. "Do you actually know what you're doing or not?"

The old man swallowed hard and quickly stopped with the interrogation. "Her constitution is incredibly weak. Despite maintaining a fit exterior, her body has suffered long-term depletion from a difficult childhood. It seems she was routinely subjected to heavy physical labor during her cycles. She needs intensive, long-term wellness care."

"How do we fix it?" Chuck demanded, his face thunderous.

The healer stood up nervously. "I'll prepare a specialized herbal brew for her. Follow this regimen closely, but be warned, this isn't something that can be cured overnight."

"She's in agony right now! Is there no immediate relief?!"

Juno being in pain meant Chuck was in a dangerously volatile mood.

He had never seen her look this vulnerable.

The healer shook his head helplessly. "Just keep her warm and have her drink hot liquids. There is no instant fix for this type of internal strain. Let's start the herbal regimen and observe."

Chuck shot a deadly glare at Miles. "Go with him."

Miles practically sprinted out the door.

The oppressive tension in the office was terrifying.

Juno lay curled on the sofa, clutching her stomach. In just a short time, her luminous skin had turned ashen, and cold sweat dotted her forehead.

Looking completely out of his element, Chuck hastily pulled out his phone and started desperately researching remedies.

A million contradictory suggestions popped up.

How was she supposed to sleep through this?

To her surprise, Chuck lay down on the sofa right beside her. Keeping the thick blanket securely wrapped around her, he pulled her flush against his chest, gently rubbing her back as if soothing a restless child.

He smelled incredible—not like cologne, but a very clean, comforting scent. Surrounded by his warmth, her breathing eventually evened out, and she drifted off.

A while later, Sebastian Corrington arrived with a stack of documents to discuss the upcoming speech competition. As he knocked on the door, he heard heavy footsteps approaching from inside.

Chuck opened the door just a crack, his tall frame completely blocking the entryway. "What do you want?"

Despite Chuck's quick reflexes, Sebastian caught a glimpse of someone lying on the sofa. Long, dark hair spilled over the cushions. He couldn't see the woman's face, but something about the scene felt strangely familiar.

So Chuck was one of *those* guys. Flirting with his sister one minute, and bringing some random woman into his office the next. Typical playboy behavior.

He definitely needed to warn Juno to stay far away from him. The man was clearly bad news.

Pushing his disgust aside, Sebastian maintained his professional composure. "I need to go over the speech competition details with you—"

Before he could finish, Chuck cut him off. "Handle it yourself." And with that, he slammed the door shut.

The rush of air from the closing door felt like a physical slap to Sebastian's face.
