The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 177

Margie took a step forward, blocking Juno. With a venomous scowl, she snapped at the girl, "You're asking her?" She looked the girl up and down in disgust. "You clearly know even less than Juno. Who gave you the audacity to mock people?

"Is this how your family raised you? To openly mock other people's backgrounds?"

The girl froze, struck dumb by Margie's aggressive interrogation. What was going on? Didn't Rhiannon say Margie hated Juno's guts?

Why was she defending her?

Knowing when to fold, and not wanting to become the laughingstock of the wealthy elite present, the girl quickly offered an apologetic smile. "I was wrong. I'm sorry."

Margie rolled her eyes so hard she nearly looked at the ceiling. "Who exactly are you apologizing to?"

Only then did the girl turn to Juno. "I'm so sorry."

Without waiting for Juno's response, she grabbed her friend and fled.

Retreating to a secluded corner, the girl's apologetic smile vanished. "I can't believe Rhiannon is that manipulative! She knew my family wanted to get on her good side, so she subtly fed me lines to attack Juno. If it worked, Juno gets humiliated, and if it backfires, I take the heat while she walks away perfectly clean!"

Her friend glanced back toward where Juno stood. "Thank god Juno didn't press the issue."

"Seriously. I can't stand people like Rhiannon. How could someone raised in a powerhouse family like the Corringtons turn out so utterly rotten? At this rate, the Talbots will be ruined by her eventually."

Her friend quickly clapped a hand over her mouth. "Shh! People are walking by, keep it down."

They couldn't afford to let anyone overhear them.

Whether it was the Talbot family or the Corrington family, neither was a force they could afford to cross.

Standing quietly in an inconspicuous corner, Rhiannon committed every single word they said to memory.

After the two girls left, she turned her gaze back to Juno.

Even though neither showed much emotion, from a distance, it was painfully obvious that Margie was actively trying to bond with Juno.

Back home in Kingsland, the very energetic Gwendolyn, who was cheerfully waiting for Juno's return, suddenly sneezed.

How could one slap confine someone to their bed?!

Melba knew Juno was just trying to rile her up, but she had to swallow it. Right on cue, the servant behind her presented a small box.

She offered it to Juno. "This is an imported ointment. It's incredibly exclusive. I had to pull major favors and pay a fortune just to secure this one bottle. It works wonders for swelling. Please take it back to Gwendolyn."

She said this with an unmistakable air of condescending superiority.

Giving off the impression that commoners weren't even worthy of looking at it.

Margie was sick to her stomach just listening to her.

Juno flipped the lid open and glanced down. Margie leaned in, feigning confusion. "Huh? I thought she said it was incredibly exclusive? Didn't you just bring home an entire crate of this stuff a few days ago? Gwendolyn couldn't even finish it all."
