The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 182

"If someone actually manages to lay a hand on me..." Lorcan looked out the window. "Then I'll literally get on my knees and call them 'Grandpa'."

He was so certain, so incredibly arrogant.

The guard's mouth twitched.

Lorcan added, "Oh, and post exactly what I just said on the Shadow Net. I want to see which piece of trash actually dares to show up."

His face was full of contempt; his absolute certainty gave him complete confidence in his own words.

The Yates family worked quickly.

Lorcan's stunt was undoubtedly an open provocation.

"Tsk, what an obnoxious guy. I can't even stand reading this. I thought the assassin had zero chance, but now I'm rooting for them."

"Best of luck to them. If they pull it off, we get to hear the Yates family heir call someone 'Grandpa'."

Following Lorcan's orders, a motorcade arrived at the airport to pick them up.

Chuck and Juno got into the car heading straight for Lorcan's residence.

The massive estate was heavily guarded, with men stationed every few meters. Occasionally, figures could be seen patrolling with light, stealthy footsteps—clearly well-trained fighters.

Just as they were about to arrive, Lorcan suddenly sat up from the sofa. "Right, they'll need to eat when they get here. Call Lucia Corbett from the Obsidian Court to join us."

If Lucia had any thoughts of helping Chuck, he was going to sever those ties today once and for all.

The leader of the Obsidian Court had died protecting Chuck, yet here he was parading around with some weak little woman. How could the Obsidian Court tolerate that?

This wasn't just a show for Lucia; it was a display meant for Juno's loyalists within the Obsidian Court.

He was going to completely isolate Chuck and cut off all his connections.

When Lucia received the invitation, she asked her subordinate, "Are they here?"

"Yes."

Gripping the invite, she asked, "Do we have a picture of the woman he brought?"

"We do."

The subordinate quickly handed over a tablet.

Lucia stared at the photo and closed her eyes in speechless disbelief. Juno was back.

She heard she was from Kingsland?

That pathetic place?

The thought deepened her contempt.

Her beloved Chuck could never be with someone so cheap and unremarkable!

Lorcan smiled. "Since everyone is here, let's eat."

At the dining table, Lucia barely spoke. With Juno present, she knew the more she talked, the more likely she was to mess up. Eating quietly was the best strategy.

She carefully watched Juno's expression to regulate her own behavior.

Meanwhile, the socialite sneered at Juno, her jabs blunt and obvious. "I've never seen such a tacky woman. It seems Mr. Yates really isn't picky these days. To think, the only person worthy of dining with you used to be Juno Mercer.

As for her, she throws on designer labels and suddenly thinks she's upper class? It's the modern age, and people are still this delusional?"

Rolling her eyes so hard she could practically see her own brain, the socialite added, "She reeks of cheapness. It's honestly nauseating. What do you think, Ms. Corbett?"

Lucia, who was in the middle of a bite, fumbled her silverware, dropping a rib back onto her plate.
