The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 181

Just as arrogant as Harrison Corrington was in his youth.

But she had the capital to back it up.

After dinner, Juno headed back to her room. Having some free time, she booted up her computer and logged into the Shadow Net.

It had been a long time since she last checked in on the assassin circles.

Three bounties were pinned at the top, and she spotted a familiar name—Lorcan Yates.

The eldest son of the Yates family, the one who had always targeted Chuck.

She moved her mouse and clicked on it.

SSR rank.

[Beat up Lorcan Yates. Upload a photo of the aftermath to the client to complete the job.]

Juno's eyes lit up, and she immediately accepted the commission.

The moment she accepted it, the Shadow Net forums erupted.

"Someone took the bounty? Badass. God knows how many guards Lorcan Yates has around him. Who'd dare take this if they aren't ranked first or second on the leaderboard?"

"Lorcan's a tyrant. Even if he can't be killed, a good beating is still satisfying."

"Rank one and two are both in the Obsidian Court. Those two factions balance each other out anyway, so why would they get involved?"

"The one who took the job looks like a rookie. Tsk, zero past mission records. Good luck to them."

"Let's start a betting pool. I wager on whether this rookie can post the photo online within three days."

Juno sipped a smoothie as she watched them place their bets.

She closed her laptop, already forming a plan in her mind.

.

Northbridge University.

Miles handed over a tablet. "Someone accepted the bounty on Lorcan."

"Who?"

"Can't trace them. The data masking is perfect; we can't find a thing."

Chuck idly flipped through the anonymous user's profile, a specific face coming to mind.

Who else could it be but Juno?

Because he had guessed it, Juno felt like Chuck had been subtly watching her over the last couple of days.

Wherever she went, Miles followed.

She had a sneaking suspicion Chuck already knew. Deciding not to bother with the front gate, she planned to scale the wall and slip away.

Her lithe figure darted down the corridor, dodging all the security cameras. With a clean, agile leap, she vaulted right onto the top of the wall.

What if something actually happened?

Chuck casually flipped his newspaper. "What could happen with me there?"

Since he couldn't control her, he would just watch her do it.

He remembered clearly that Lorcan was one of the people who had pulled the trigger back then.

The moment Chuck and the others stepped off the plane, both the Obsidian Court and the Yates family received the news.

An imposing mansion stood on a vast, sprawling estate.

Lorcan Yates poured himself a coffee, one hand in his pocket, eyes still heavy with sleep. "So he's here. What kind of threat is he?"

"He also brought a woman."

Lorcan chuckled. "Interesting. Last I checked, Juno Mercer just died."

Finding another woman so soon after she died?

"Since he's here, it would be rude of us not to host him. Bring them in." He took a sip, the bitter taste spreading in his mouth, waking him up slightly.

"Yes, sir. Should we increase your security detail in the meantime?"

After all, the Shadow Net was crystal clear about someone coming to beat him up.

Lorcan casually brushed his hair out of his eyes and thought for a moment. "The only people capable of getting close to me are Juno and Morgan. Juno is dead, and Morgan only ever followed her orders. Who else could touch me? Don't be so paranoid."
