His arms were fractured, and he probably wouldn't be able to exert heavy force for years.
He had also taken a hit to the head, and by the next day, he still hadn't woken up.
The Yates family had originally tried to suppress the news, but Juno intentionally blew it up. With the Obsidian Court's intelligence network spreading the word everywhere, practically eighty percent of the city knew the Yates family heir had been brutally beaten.
Juno was gleefully stirring up a storm.
The Shadow Net was absolutely buzzing.
"Holy shit, check the front page! Lorcan Yates actually got destroyed!"
"There are photos. It's been verified—it's completely real! And there's audio below the pics! Listen to this!"
"The assassin's voice is heavily distorted, so you can't tell if it's a guy or a girl, but that is definitely Lorcan's voice!"
"Fuck!! I thought this rookie was just messing around! I didn't think they'd actually pull it off!! Did you hear it?! Lorcan sounded absolutely hysterical when he screamed 'Grandpa'. The hatred in his voice was insane!"
"I heard it! That's so badass. I am never looking down on rookies with zero mission records again. My bad for underestimating them!"
"Karma's a bitch. He deserved every hit. I've hated that guy for a long time."
Everyone on the Shadow Net was anonymous. Backed by the world's most elite hackers and cutting-edge technology, once someone went anonymous, it was utterly impossible to track them.
When Lucia woke up and heard the news, she immediately logged into the Shadow Net. She deliberately checked the photos and clicked on the audio file.
It was a recording of a conversation between two people.
"Who are you?! How did you get in here?!" The panicked voice was unmistakably Lorcan's.
The other person didn't respond. Moments later, Lorcan's agonized screams echoed through the recording. It sounded chaotic—guards shouting and mobilizing in the background, clearly unable to break into the room.
A series of sickening, muffled thuds was followed by two sharp cracks.
Lorcan's shrieks were so ear-piercing that Lucia had to hold her phone away from her head.
Her methods were absolutely ruthless.
By the afternoon, Lorcan finally woke up, just as Juno and Chuck were getting ready to leave.
He rushed over to confront them.
He was wrapped head-to-toe in bandages, with only his face visible—and even that was bruised and swollen beyond recognition. If not for his voice, no one would have known it was Lorcan.
Because his face was so swollen, his speech was heavily slurred.
"Little brother, did you have something to do with this?"
Chuck's tone was entirely apathetic. "Don't go pointing fingers just because your own men are useless."
"Heh, I'll make you pay a hundred times over for this!"
Juno found his whining annoying. She lowered her eyes, a mocking smile playing on her lips, and taunted him. "Isn't it rude to sit while talking? Why don't you stand up?"
