The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 195

"We're done," Margie added. "I have a severe allergy to manipulative people."

It sounded harsh, but it was the absolute truth.

Matilda had seen enough. She turned to Kaelen. "Son, sever all business ties with the Chadwicks immediately."

"Consider it done," Kaelen agreed.

"Good," Matilda said. "I just got out of the hospital, and I refuse to spend another second in this toxic environment. Let's go home, Juno."

...

At Northbridge University.

Miles watched Chuck Yates sorting through paperwork. "Boss, Ms. Mercer went out again."

"Mm."

Miles blinked.

*That's it? That's your reaction? You deserve to be single.*

Miles put on his most serious face. "Boss, didn't we come to this campus specifically to get closer to Ms. Mercer? You guys aren't even seeing each other right now."

Chuck signed his name at the bottom of a contract. "She has her own things to do."

Since when was he so zen?! Miles desperately tried to figure out a way to make his boss take some initiative. He remembered that this week was physical education.

He cautiously brought it up. "I heard Ms. Mercer chose basketball for her P.E. elective."

Chuck's pen hovered over the paper. "Basketball?"

"Yes. You've been so busy, you probably haven't checked the school forums."

Miles unlocked his tablet and opened the Northbridge student forum. With a quick swipe, he showed that almost every thread was guys trying to figure out which gym class Juno was taking.

Just as he expected, Chuck's expression instantly darkened.

Miles added fuel to the fire. "There are a lot of guys in that basketball class, and plenty of them are trying to get close to her. Northbridge isn't exactly short on outstanding young men."

*Snap.*

The tip of the fountain pen broke against the desk.

"Seduce her! Pin her against a wall and kiss her senseless!! If she still doesn't react, then there's something wrong with her!!"

...

Perhaps Miles's nagging had worked. That night, noticing Juno hadn't returned to campus, Chuck quietly infiltrated the Jagger estate.

Downstairs, the family was chatting happily in the living room. Chuck just sat patiently on the sofa in Juno's bedroom, waiting.

Two hours later, he finally heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

He quickly glanced down to make sure his suit wasn't wrinkled.

The moment Juno opened the door, she saw Chuck sitting there. Right behind her, Jeremy's voice rang out, "Juno..."

Before he could finish, Juno kicked the door shut in his face.

Jeremy, now staring at a closed door, stood frozen.

Juno looked at Chuck, her eyes darting pointedly toward the bathroom.
