Somehow, such a rough entry looked completely flawless on him.
His movements were incredibly practiced.
Clearly, this wasn't his first time doing something like this.
The terrified maid scrambled backward on the floor.
Caelan watched, his brows furrowing in disgust. Who were these people?!
Why climb through a window when there's a perfectly good door?! What kind of savage behavior was this?!
Morgan was Juno's most capable right-hand man. Once he showed up, no secret could stay buried.
"Find a way. In thirty minutes, I want to see the leftover supplements the patient took. If you can't find the dregs, pull the family's prescription logs."
"Understood."
Without a second glance, Morgan gripped his cane and calmly walked out of the room to issue the orders.
His men appeared in even more bizarre ways, stepping out from the shadows of various rooms.
With the command given, they sprang into action.
Things that have already happened leave a trail that isn't easily erased.
No matter how thoroughly you clean up, there are always clues.
In reality, Morgan was much faster than thirty minutes. Within twenty, he placed exactly what Juno wanted on the table.
Juno stared at the crumpled, smoothed-out piece of paper. Right below her original instructions, two additional ingredients had been tacked on.
It was those two ingredients that had put Alastair in a coma.
Juno's face darkened as she stared at the paper. "Crawl in here."
The physician felt a chill run down his spine. He looked up, realizing everyone in the room was staring at him.
He knew she was talking to him.
He also knew exactly what was coming next, yet his feet felt glued to the floor.
Juno had no interest in bullying an incompetent fool. She stepped out of the room and faced Caelan directly. "The truth is out. What do you have to say for yourself now, Mr. Chadwick?"
Caelan opened his mouth, ready to deflect the blame, but Juno cut him off. "Using your own family, risking their lives just to extort profits—that's behavior worse than an animal."
She didn't expect a few harsh words to magically give Caelan a conscience.
Hearing the truth laid out, Moira burst into frightened, sobbing tears. "It's all my fault!"
If she hadn't made a sound, no one would have even paid attention to her.
Margie looked at her, her eyes full of profound disappointment. "You told me your father was sick, and I immediately called Juno for you. I never imagined you were plotting something so sinister. We are done. Don't ever contact me again.
"You've deeply disappointed me.
"If Kian Zimmer had come to treat him, would you have tried to set him up too? Is your father's life really worth that little compared to a business deal?"
It was rare for Margie to speak so calmly, yet her words cut so deep.
Moira looked as if she might die of guilt.
