Lucia fell silent.
That actually made a terrifying amount of sense.
Anyone with half a brain could figure out that Lorcan was the one who orchestrated this opening dance.
Shocked that his brother would so brazenly disregard the family's public image, Lorcan rolled his wheelchair over and hissed, "Are you really going to act this inappropriately on an occasion like today?"
Chuck's gaze was chillingly dark. "Who the hell do you think you are to give me orders?"
Tristan clicked his tongue, knowing the elder brother was just asking for humiliation. Shaking his head, he went back to his wine.
It was a fantastic vintage.
Even better than Lucia's private collection.
Juno chimed in seamlessly. "As the eldest son, shouldn't you be setting an example?"
As soon as she spoke, she paused as if suddenly realizing something, shooting a deeply provocative look at his legs. "Oh, wait. I just remembered Mr. Lorcan Yates's legs are crippled. You couldn't dance even if you wanted to."
The onlookers simultaneously turned their gazes toward his legs.
He really was in a wheelchair.
Judging by his spectacularly ugly expression, it had to be true.
Then they looked back at the couple.
The two menaces sitting side-by-side looked remarkably compatible.
Unable to stand watching her beloved brother being subjected to everyone's scrutinizing stares, Gemma opened her mouth to argue, but Lorcan stopped her.
Today was different from the past; certain family secrets absolutely could not be aired in front of outsiders.
Chuck began serving food onto Juno's plate.
It was all her favorites.
He completely ignored Belinda the entire time.
She stood there awkwardly, utterly at a loss for the first time in her life.
Seeing this, Belinda's brother stood up abruptly.
"You are being incredibly disrespectful to my sister, Mr. Yates," he snapped in fluent English. "The entire Russell family is present today!"
Chuck couldn't even be bothered to look at him. "With the exception of Juno, I don't give a damn about anyone in this room."
As he spoke, he spotted one last shrimp on Lucia's plate.
He swiftly snatched it right off her plate with his fork.
Lucia gritted her teeth. "Are you not afraid I'll kill you?"
He chuckled. "You're barely bigger than my thumbnail. Besides, Morgan will protect me."
Her jaw dropped, utterly speechless at his sheer audacity.
Absolute savages.
Given their current public standings, they couldn't just casually sit with Juno, so they had to secretly shuttle the stolen food over and sneak back.
They managed to pull it off without alerting anyone.
Juno looked at the mountain of shrimp piled in front of her with fond exasperation.
Chuck quietly began peeling them for her.
By the time she finished eating, the performance across the room had drawn to a close.
