The members of the Russell family couldn't help but scrutinize Juno.
They quickly deduced that she had to be an assassin.
Just the intensely lethal way she looked at people was a dead giveaway.
Since she clearly knew how to fight, they would find an opportunity to 'test' her skills.
The next day was packed with events.
Juno spotted Rhiannon Corrington in the crowd.
With her background, Rhiannon was hardly qualified to attend a Yates family event.
Sensing someone watching her from the shadows, she pinpointed their exact location with deadly accuracy.
Gemma Yates.
Melba Ziegler and her daughter had also arrived.
The two of them were whispering conspicuously.
"I fought hard for this invitation. Just look around—anyone you bump into here holds international influence. I brought you here to broaden your horizons."
Melba firmly lectured her daughter.
She was terrified the girl wouldn't take this seriously and miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
Rhiannon nodded, fully grasping the gravity of the situation.
However...
"Mom, why is Juno here?"
At the mention of that name, undisguised disgust twisted her features.
It seemed like that bitch was everywhere she turned.
Scanning the crowd, Melba finally spotted her, but quickly dismissed it. "Gwendolyn Jagger probably pulled some strings to get her in to see how the other half lives. Ignore her. Just focus on making a good impression on these people."
"Okay."
Rhiannon cleared her throat and adjusted her posture.
She could sense the overwhelming wealth and status surrounding her. She needed to present herself as perfectly polite and humble, leaving a stellar impression to pave the way for her future.
Before long, a large posse began marching in her direction.
Led by Gemma and Rhiannon.
Gemma approached with a flawless, sickeningly sweet smile. "Ms. Mercer, I heard this lovely lady is an old friend of yours. Why haven't you gone over to say hello?"
Juno casually continued snacking. "I didn't realize you were so invested in other people's family drama, Ms. Gemma."
"Not at all. I just happened to hear that you have quite the fighting skills. We have a few martial arts enthusiasts here today—why don't you have a friendly little spar?"
She delivered the trap flawlessly.
Juno narrowed her eyes. Taking a sip of water, she stood up, walked over to the so-called 'enthusiast,' and lashed out at his waist with lightning speed.
The man reacted instantly, anticipating her move.
Unfortunately for him, he anticipated wrong.
In three swift, effortless motions, she yanked a three-edged military combat knife right out of his waistband.
"By 'sparring,' did you actually mean 'assassination attempt'?"
