The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 255

"Are you going to attend?"

Juno popped a piece of shrimp into her mouth. "Yeah, I'll go."

Gwendolyn beamed. "Perfect."

Her daughter was brilliant in her own right.

Time moved quickly upon returning to Kingsland. The joint summit between Jindale City and Kingsland was set to take place at the Aethelgard Forum.

The mayors and their wives from both cities were present to personally receive the tycoons and elites arriving from all over.

They had to tread carefully with every single guest.

The Corrington family arrived early. Harrison intentionally took the time to introduce Juno to the various heavyweights in the room.

Most of the attendees already had ties with their family. If Juno was genuinely interested in the business world, he was more than ready to groom her for it.

Juno nodded quietly along the way.

She recognized quite a few of these people—several of them had previously groveled and begged her for favors.

Instead of showing off, she played the role of the humble daughter trailing behind Harrison perfectly. She offered polite greetings, engaged in modest small talk, and smiled so much her cheeks were starting to ache.

She had never acted this subservient in her life.

Looking at the arrogant, self-important expressions on these people's faces made it incredibly hard to keep smiling.

But standing behind Harrison, she had to play the part of an innocent newcomer.

Lucia Corbett, who had flown all the way from Blackwood City specifically to eat popcorn and watch the drama unfold, was currently observing Juno methodically greet the room with great amusement.

She found it utterly hilarious. "What on earth is she doing?"

"Greeting people," the person beside her replied. "Should we go over and say hello?"

Just to clarify that she was, in fact, Juno Mercer.

Lucia raised a hand to stop them. "No need. As much as I enjoy watching them act all high and mighty while Juno plays nice, I'm going to enjoy watching the absolute terror on their faces when her real identity drops even more."

Dropping that singular comment, she walked off.

Lucia was a menace.

Shortly after, the Talbot family arrived.

Titus Talbot led the way, with his wife Melba and their daughter Rhiannon following closely behind.

Harrison had already paraded Juno around half the room. Her growth was terrifyingly fast. Not only was she fiercely protected by the Obsidian Court, but these elite families were also welcoming her with open arms purely out of respect for the Corringtons.

If she didn't work twice as hard, she would eventually be crushed under Juno's heel, never to rise again.

She couldn't accept that.

Juno was thoroughly bored. Just as she finally found a moment of peace, she casually glanced up and caught Rhiannon glaring at her.

Her brow twitched. What was that idiot scheming now?

She watched as the mother and daughter whispered to each other before heading straight in her direction.

Harrison and the others, who had been busy networking, noticed Rhiannon approaching Juno and immediately cut their conversations short to regroup around her.

Harrison and Gwendolyn stood solidly at Juno's sides, while Sebastian and Rylan took their places right behind her.

Melba smiled, attempting to look amiable. "It's nothing serious, just coming over to say hello to little Juno."

Gwendolyn's tone was ice-cold. "I really don't see the need for that."

"Oh, listen to you. We just came over to say hi, isn't the Corrington matriarch overreacting a bit?"
