The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 256

"Since when do you have anything worthwhile to say?"

Gwendolyn was known as a refined woman of high society, so her sudden sharp tongue caught everyone off guard.

Clearly, spending time around Juno was rubbing off on her.

The textbook definition of Juno-fication.

"That's not very polite. Rhiannon is doing the opening performance tonight, so we just came over to ask if Juno wanted to join her. If she's interested, Rhiannon wouldn't mind carrying her a bit. Why so defensive?"

Gwendolyn's expression was glacial. "She's playing the piano. Why are you acting like she cured a disease?"

Through it all, Rhiannon stayed completely silent, letting Melba do all the talking.

The commotion quickly caught Titus's attention. He rubbed his temples, furious. Didn't he literally just tell them not to cause trouble? He had barely started mending fences with Harrison, and now it was all ruined.

Well, if they were destined to be enemies with the Corringtons anyway, it didn't matter.

On the flip side, if he didn't stand up for his wife and daughter in a public setting like this, he would look incredibly weak.

Titus walked over. "At least Rhiannon worked hard to earn this piano performance herself. And Juno? She's just tagging along behind her parents to sightsee. It's really not presentable.

Mrs. Corrington, I know this sounds harsh, but it's tough love. Just because you found your daughter after ten years doesn't mean you should coddle her like this. Being a high-society heiress isn't as easy as just showing up.

Without any real talents to rely on, she's going to be looked down upon wherever she goes."

Sebastian chimed in seamlessly, "Since when did a hobby meant for personal enjoyment become a tool for cheap comparison? It seems your daughter truly has absolutely nothing else to offer the Talbot family. She has to cling to her piano skills like a lifeline."

Rylan echoed the sentiment. "Who made the rule that a wealthy heiress must learn parlor tricks? Everyone has their own path. Our Juno doesn't have any artsy hobbies. Her only real interest is ruthlessly acquiring small companies in the business world. The Talbot family might want to watch their backs."

Whether it was true or not, the threat landed flawlessly.

Being mocked so openly by the younger generation made Titus's face flush with anger. "You..."

Harrison stepped forward. "Are you absolutely certain you want to stand here and debate whose daughter is superior with the Corrington family?"

His tone carried a heavy warning.

The Talbots were still the premier family of Jindale City. Why should they swallow this humiliation?

For the first time in her life, she realized that the concept of "brothers" was incredibly annoying.

Harrison glanced back at Rylan. "Where did you learn to act like a thug?"

Smashing people's pianos? What was wrong with him?

The forum hall was arranged in a curved, tiered layout. The front row was already partially occupied.

Lucia was practically asleep in her seat, with Morgan sitting right beside her.

The Corringtons and Talbots were directed to the second row.

As the Talbots took their seats, Rhiannon said with an apologetic tone, "This is my fault. I got too excited about landing the opening performance and acted out of turn."

Titus was still fuming. "It's not your fault. Juno Mercer has no real skills. She only looks presentable because the Corringtons and Jaggers are propping her up. I don't know what she's so smug about. If she's really that great, let's see her sit in the front row."

Juno, who was walking in at that exact moment, happened to hear every word.
