A single photo captured the essence of both women perfectly.
The moment Mrs. Sherwood saw Juno, her irritated mood was instantly soothed.
She smiled and tossed the phone back to the assistant. "Hah."
With a cold scoff, Mrs. Sherwood grabbed Gwendolyn's arm and started walking out. As they headed for the door, she remarked loudly, "Some people won't be celebrating for much longer."
Just as the two women reached the entrance, a man walked in, followed by two neat rows of bodyguards.
Gwendolyn recognized him. She had seen him at the Obsidian Court.
The man offered Gwendolyn a polite, modest smile before stepping inside. As he passed, the two rows of bodyguards simultaneously bowed their heads slightly to Gwendolyn.
Mrs. Sherwood was bewildered. "You know him?"
Gwendolyn nodded. "We've met once."
"They seemed quite respectful to you." Mrs. Sherwood looked at the retreating group with a hint of gossip in her eyes.
Gwendolyn kept her thoughts to herself. She knew it was because she was Juno's mother; the Obsidian Court was simply showing her respect on Juno's behalf.
Director Ziegler's hand, which had been resting on his young wife's waist, slowly and limply fell away.
He stood frozen as the man approached him.
Clarissa looked at her husband in confusion, not understanding what was happening.
Basil York stood with one hand casually behind his back. His fair, youthful face carried no trace of immaturity. Dressed in a dark, double-breasted pinstripe suit, he exuded a deep sense of rigorous professionalism. A crisp white pocket square in his left breast pocket added a touch of elegance to his imposing presence.
"Director Ziegler," Basil called out flatly.
It was perfectly normal for others not to recognize Basil York, but Director Ziegler had no choice but to know exactly who he was.
This man's media company was the absolute titan of the industry, widely regarded as the ultimate authority. No matter the subject, if Basil's company published it, the public accepted it as gospel.
They possessed an incredibly stable and massive user base.
Director Ziegler instinctively glanced toward the two women watching the drama near the door. One of Basil's bodyguards subtly shifted sideways, blocking his line of sight.
The moment Clarissa laid eyes on Basil, her heart fluttered. This man was simply too handsome. He wasn't just some ordinary pretty boy; he was a highly successful, powerful figure!
A young, brilliant elite!
She couldn't help but feel a sudden wave of disgust toward her overweight husband.
Moving almost entirely on instinct, she eagerly hopped forward two steps. "Is there something we can help you with, sir?"
Basil took a swift, clean step back. Pulling a pristine handkerchief from his pocket, he covered his nose and mouth. He didn't say a single word, but his entire body practically screamed repulsion.
Clarissa awkwardly rubbed her nose and looked back at her husband.
Director Ziegler reached out and pulled her behind him, apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry. My wife wasn't aware that Mr. York is a germaphobe."
