The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 55

The moment those words left his mouth, Chuck and Morgan shot Babur glares so lethal they could have killed him on the spot.

The atmosphere turned instantly bizarre.

Juno was transferred to a private recovery ward.

The second Sebastian Corrington heard about Juno's injury, he bypassed the hospital and headed straight to the TV studio.

Unbeknownst to him, Morgan's men had already locked the place down tight. Not even a fly was getting out.

Sebastian was granted access smoothly.

There were one hundred and fifty staff members, including the showrunner, detained inside.

Since the accident, no one had been allowed to leave.

A thick, acrid smell of burnt wiring lingered heavily in the studio.

Sebastian pulled out a pocket square, covering his nose and mouth as he walked in.

He had brought his own men as well.

The showrunner immediately recognized him.

Even though the immensely powerful Corrington family usually kept a low profile, men in his line of work had every single Corrington face memorized to avoid accidentally offending them.

This time, the showrunner scurried forward, groveling. "Mr. Corrington, to what do we owe the pleasure today?"

Sebastian didn't even look at him. "My sister was injured here. I'm here to find out why."

His tone was bone-chillingly detached.

The showrunner glanced nervously at the wreckage on stage. "It was our negligence. The rig came loose and fell suddenly."

By then, Sebastian had already stepped onto the stage. He crouched down to examine the debris, then ordered his men to inspect the ceiling mounts.

It was deliberate sabotage.

Someone had tampered with the bolts, causing the rig to collapse.

"I want the security footage."

Whatever Sebastian commanded, he got. The showrunner hastily led him to the security room.

When he walked in, Chuck and Morgan were already there.

The three men didn't find the cramped space an issue, clearly dividing the work as they reviewed the footage.

Half an hour later, they identified three suspicious individuals.

"Didn't you say Juno would wake up today? It's already nine o'clock and she hasn't moved an inch! Are you sure you're not a quack?"

Then, a distinctly frigid voice replied, "Please refrain from questioning my medical expertise."

The voice sounded somewhat familiar.

Juno realized that getting smashed in the head had definitely made her a bit sluggish.

She couldn't place who was speaking.

"Just because you tell me not to doubt you doesn't mean I won't! What if Juno never wakes up!

You don't know how tragic her life is! She just got back from the countryside, she barely enjoyed a few good days before getting squashed like a bug!

Boohoo, she hasn't even gotten to eat those shrimp yet, and I was waiting for my arm to heal so I could peel them for her..."

Babur was bawling his eyes out, wailing like he was at a funeral.

Kian spoke with terrifying calm. "If you do not shut up in the next three seconds, I will inject you with a massive dose of horse tranquilizer."

Babur instantly stopped crying, sitting in the corner in complete silence.

Kian stepped closer to Juno's bed. "Can you hear me?"
