His cool, intoxicating scent filled her nose. It smelled incredible. The next second, something soft pressed firmly against her lips.
???
Juno's first instinct was to push him away, but Chuck had her locked in an iron grip.
She froze completely solid, like a block of stone.
Chuck's voice was low and gravelly. "Juno, stay away from them."
Juno's brain completely short-circuited.
Even after she made it back to her dorm, she was still in a complete daze.
Claire had gotten back much earlier. The moment she took one look at Juno, her eyes bugged out. "Wow, you guys moved fast."
You just met him tonight, and your lips already look like that?...
Looked like what?
Juno walked into the bathroom and stared at her reflection in the mirror.
Her lips were bright red and slightly swollen, and her striking eyes were a little misty.
She slammed her fist onto the counter.
That bastard Chuck Yates.
The loud thud startled Claire in the other room.
What on earth was going on?
The next day, the entire sophomore Computer Science Department was notified that their advisor had been replaced.
Juno wasn't surprised at all. Sebastian had probably pulled some strings.
The previous advisor had been completely spineless. How could someone like that last long in that job?
Claire was taking notes and mentioned, "The new advisor is supposed to come in soon to introduce himself."
"Got it."
Whoever it was, it had nothing to do with her.
The classroom door opened, and a man walked in.
The guys in the class gasped out loud.
The man who had just walked in clearly wasn't your average guy. Someone with that kind of intense aura could easily be a full professor. Having him as a mere advisor seemed like a massive waste.
"If you want your loan money, go get it from her! She's my niece, and she's the true heiress of the Corrington family! She has plenty of money."
The loan shark patted Aunt Cynthia's cheek aggressively. "Don't try to pull a fast one on me. Let's go!"
The group of thugs blocked Juno's path. "Hey there, little girl. Time to pay up."
Sebastian immediately stepped in front of Juno to shield her.
Juno just shoved him aside and asked with an amused smirk, "Oh?"
"Jason Webb owes us three hundred thousand. He doesn't have it, but his mother, Cynthia, said you do. You're dressed in expensive clothes, so three hundred grand shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Aunt Cynthia suddenly popped out of nowhere, pointing an accusing finger at Juno. "Since you went back to the Corringtons, you definitely have money! It's just three hundred thousand—that's pocket change for you! Pay them!!"
Juno's expression hardened. "I do have it, but why the hell would I give it to you?"
Aunt Cynthia scoffed coldly. "You really are an ungrateful brat. The second you get rich, you completely turn your back on your poor relatives. You won't even give me a measly three hundred thousand! Your cousin was so much easier to talk to—he gave us whatever we asked for. You're both people, why are you so selfish?!"
Cynthia was completely shameless. "If you don't give me the money, I'll come to your school and make a scene every single day!"
She felt incredibly entitled. "Oh, and while you're at it, you'd better get your cousin a job. If Caleb Mercer can work for your family, why can't my son?"
Juno's entire worldview was constantly being shattered by the sheer audacity of her adoptive family.
