Felicia finally found her voice. “Dad, Ava, Greg… Max wants a divorce.” The words just hung in the air. Silence filled the dining room. Everyone’s expression turned somber, especially Colton. He lowered his head, his jaw tight.
Honestly, no one was really surprised. Maybe just by how quickly it all happened. There had never been a wedding, just a marriage certificate. In the past six months, the two families hadn’t spoken or visited. Max had never come to the Ross house, not even once. During holidays, the Hawthornes never sent a single gift.
Every time Felicia came home alone, Colton and Ava would hand her gifts to bring to the Hawthornes. She’d deliver them, and Miranda would accept them with a polite smile, but Felicia knew those gifts always ended up with the staff. Tatiana was even worse. She once told the maid to toss everything straight into the trash right in front of Felicia, and told her to stop bringing over such cheap stuff.
Max had told her not to bother with these pointless gestures. With a marriage that unbalanced, it was just a matter of time before things fell apart.
Felicia pressed her lips together. “We’ll wait until after the baby is born. And I’ve already spoken to Mr. Milman. I’m heading to Stanford for further studies in February.”
Greg was the first to break the tense silence. “That’s awesome, Felicia. You’re too talented to be stuck in a marriage like this. Whatever you decide, you’ve got my support.”
Felicia smiled and nodded. “Thanks, Greg.”
Colton let out a heavy sigh, full of regret and guilt. “If you’re getting divorced, then so be it. This is on me. We’re just regular people. We never should’ve get involved with a rich family like the Hawthornes.”
Felicia’s eyes went red. Suddenly, the pain she’d been carrying didn’t seem so overwhelming. She had her family, and they would always have her back. Whatever came next, she could handle it.
A deeper, indulgent voice sounded in the background. “Didn’t you ask me to remind you to watch your diet? And now you’re blaming me?”
Andrea let out a dramatic sigh.
“If you’re hungry, just get some food. I’ll be there soon,” he said.
Darin ended the call, stubbed out his cigarette, took one last look at the house, then rolled the window back up and drove away.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
