Felicia hugged her daughter close and took a deep breath. Her voice was soft and tired. “Alright. No more arguing.”
They stayed like that, mother and daughter holding each other.
Behind the door, a tall figure stood quietly, watching everything unfold in the study.
Anne leaned on Felicia’s shoulder, her breathing slowing as she started to calm down.
Felicia picked her up and carried her out of the room.
Max was already gone.
Back in Anne’s bedroom, Felicia carefully wiped the little girl’s face clean.
Anne grabbed the towel and dabbed at Felicia’s face in return. Felicia bent down and let her, listening to Anne mumble, “Evelynn, don’t cry. I won’t cry either.”
Felicia smiled and brushed her daughter’s cheek with gentle fingers. “That’s right. Neither of us will cry.”
Kids really were easy to cheer up. Anne was grinning again in no time.
Once their faces were washed, Anne suddenly piped up, “Evelynn.”
Felicia looked at her. “What’s up?”
Anne seemed a little unsure. “Can you stay with me at home today? We can go to your place tomorrow, okay? I’m not trying to go back on my word.”
There was no way Felicia could say no to her daughter. “Alright. I’ll stay here with you today.”
Anne’s worried eyes instantly sparkled. “Yay!”
She wrapped her arms around Felicia again.
They stayed in the bedroom together until noon.
Then the door opened.
Anne saw who it was and called out, “Daddy!”
Just like that, she was her bright and lively self again.
Max smiled at his daughter, his voice gentle. “Time for lunch.”
Anne reached for Felicia’s hand. “Evelynn, let’s go eat.”
Felicia let Anne tug her toward the door.
Anne insisted. “Nope, you have to try one. Please? Just one?”
In the end, Felicia had no choice but to eat it.
Anne watched her take a bite, her eyes bright with excitement. “Evelynn, is it good? Did Daddy do a good job?”
Felicia looked at the clever little girl and just shook her head, half amused, half exasperated. “It’s really good.”
Anne turned right to her dad, swinging her legs happily. “Daddy, Evelynn says it’s yummy.”
Max smiled at his daughter and put a piece of shrimp on her plate. “Daddy heard you.”
“Then you should make more next time so we can eat together.”
Max nodded. “Alright, now eat up.”
With Anne there, her laughter filled the dining room.
Lunch felt warm and peaceful.
Felicia and Max only spoke a few words to each other, and that was just for Anne’s sake.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....

Can't wait to know the ending. If Felicia ended up with Max, i hope she gives him a hard time first. And Max, i hope he'll be remorseful of all the crappy things he puts Felicia into and yeah, he should be head over heels with Felicia....
