He watched the whole scene like it was some kind of entertainment. Andrea’s face drained of color in an instant as she stared at Holden.

“Andrea, apologize to Evelynn.” Darin’s voice cut through the tension.

Andrea’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at her brother. He was really making her apologize. “But, I…” She turned to Max, her voice full of hurt. “Max!”

Max just glanced at Holden, who simply shrugged. “Everything I said is true.”

Felicia couldn’t stand another second there. “Luke, let’s go.” Without waiting for a reply, she slipped her hand into his and they walked out of the store together.

After leaving the mall, Felicia drove Luke straight to the hospital. His right arm had taken the worst of it, but the doctor said there were no broken bones, just some bad bruises and scrapes.

Once they left the hospital, neither of them felt up for shopping. They decided to skip looking for gifts and just check out the duty-free shops at the airport tomorrow instead.

As they got back in the car, Felicia broke the silence. “Luke, I’m really sorry.”

Luke glanced over, a little surprised. “Why are you apologizing?”

She looked down, not quite able to meet his eyes. “You got hurt because of me. I have to say sorry.”

Luke gave her a relaxed smile. “It’s just a few scratches. I’ll be fine. Besides, I’m supposed to protect you. I can’t just watch you get hurt.”

Felicia tried to smile back, but the guilt in her chest felt heavy. Luke noticed and said, “When we get back home, you can help me recover. That’ll be enough to make it up to me.”

“Of course,” Felicia said softly.

He changed the subject. “You have dinner plans with your friend tonight, right? Call Tommy to go with you, just in case.”

Felicia nodded, thinking it over. “I’ll go find him at the office now.”

Felicia leaned in for a hug. “I’ll make it up to you. We’ll definitely have dinner together another time.”

They hugged and said their goodbyes. “See you. I hope we get to catch up again soon.”

Lina watched as Felicia walked away. Once she was out of sight, Lina quickly pulled out her phone and dialed a number, anxiety written all over her face. When the call connected, her voice trembled as she answered, “Hello?”

Felicia and Luke headed back to the villa. Jeremy was there and noticed Luke’s arm right away.

“What happened to you?” he asked.

Luke dropped onto the sofa. “Nothing big. Just got into a fight.”

Felicia filled Jeremy in on what had happened, keeping it brief.
