Dinner was a quiet affair. Felicia shared the news that she had successfully transferred the company shares, but she left out everything else about her trip.

Ava finally let out a relieved sigh. “That’s great. You’ve already got so much on your plate. From now on, just stay here. We really miss you.”

Greg nodded in agreement. He didn’t want Felicia to push herself too hard either.

For the next three days, Felicia stayed home, catching up on sleep and shaking off her jet lag. She kept checking in on the latest financial news from New York and sometimes messaged Jeremy. Luke, on the other hand, couldn’t take it easy. He’d been gone so long that there was a pile of work waiting for him at the company.

Every day at lunchtime, Felicia would show up at his office with food. Ava had been making him nourishing soups, and after a few days of this routine, Luke was looking a lot better. He could use his arm to write again, though he still couldn’t lift anything heavy.

Savannah and Heather came over after hearing Felicia was back. When they saw she was safe and sound, Heather finally relaxed.

A few days later, Felicia went with Luke to the hospital for his checkup. As they walked into the main lobby, she spotted two familiar faces heading their way. Felicia frowned when she realized it was Rose and Andrea’s mother. Why were they together? Then she remembered that Mrs. Curtis was close friends with Tatiana, so it wasn’t really that surprising.

Yvonne looked Felicia up and down for a second, then quickly averted her gaze like nothing happened.

Luke walked up to them. “Mom, what are you doing here?”

Rose looked between her son and Felicia. “I’m fine. I’m just here with a friend. Is your arm still not better?”

Luke had already visited home since he returned, so Rose knew he’d been hurt. “It’s almost healed. I’m just here for a follow-up.”

Felicia walked over to greet her. “Hello, Mrs. Hawthorne.”

Rose gave a polite nod.

“Luke!” Rose snapped.

“Mom, I’m going to my appointment. I’ll leave you to it.” Luke turned to Felicia. “Let’s go.”

He walked off without looking back. Felicia gave Rose a small nod and hurried after him.

Yvonne stood in place, her face dark with embarrassment and anger.

Rose glanced over. “Are you alright, Yvonne?”

Rose already knew about Max and Andrea. Yvonne just wanted her daughter to marry Max officially. What surprised Rose was that Max and Felicia still hadn’t gotten divorced. Max had always been proud, always needed to be in control, but now even his marriage was slipping through his fingers. Maybe that was why he was so resentful of Felicia. The fact that they were still married probably had something to do with Anne. Tatiana couldn’t meddle in Max’s marriage or his personal life, and as his aunt, Rose certainly had even less right to comment.
