The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 433

The elevator doors slid open with a gentle chime.

Heather reached for Yara’s hand. “Come on, Yara, let’s get inside.”

Felicia followed, leading Anne by the hand.

Just as Felicia stepped in, Greg moved in behind her, slipping between her and Max. Max hesitated just for a moment, then stepped in after them.

Inside the elevator, Anne and Yara stood side by side, their little hands linked together.

Greg took a spot right in front of Felicia. Max ended up closest to the doors, with Luke across from him.

Greg glanced at Felicia. “Did you sleep well last night?”

Felicia gave him a warm smile. “I did. Thanks for asking.”

Greg nodded. “Yesterday you mentioned wanting to see the pines up on the mountain. You should go later. We’ll keep an eye on the kids.”

Anne looked up at Felicia, her eyes bright. “Evelynn, aren’t you going skiing with me and Daddy?”

Felicia crouched a little to meet her gaze. “Heather and I are heading up the mountain, sweetie. It’s really cold up there and the path’s not easy. You and Yara can stay here to ski. When we come back down, we’ll join you, all right?”

Anne gave a tiny sigh but nodded. “Okay. But you and Aunt Heather have to come back soon.”

Felicia grinned. “We’ll take the cable car. We won’t be long at all.”

Soon they made their way down to the restaurant.

Felicia and Heather sat with Anne and Yara at a table. Luke leaned over to Felicia. “I’ll go grab you some breakfast.”

It was a buffet, and Felicia just smiled. “Thanks, Luke.”

Greg was already piling plates for Heather and Yara.

“Thank you, Greg.”

He gave a friendly smile. “No problem.”

Max carried over a tray and set it down in front of Anne, then took the seat across from her.

Luke came back with his own breakfast and took the spot next to Max.

The table felt a little tense with the extra person, but with two kids giggling and chattering, it never got too awkward.

Felicia quickly cut in. “Anne, do you want anything else to eat?”

Anne shook her head. “Nope, I’m full.”

Felicia was grateful for the change of subject.

Max drank the milk Anne gave him, his eyes quietly watching Felicia from across the table.

After breakfast, Felicia and Heather got ready to head up the mountain. They rented thick down jackets from the hotel and took the shuttle to the cable car station.

Once they left, the men took the girls to the ski area.

Greg walked over to Max. “Mr. Hawthorne, can we talk for a minute?”

Luke glanced back at them. “I’ll take Anne and Yara ahead.”

Max nodded. When the others were out of earshot, he turned to Greg. “So, what did you want to talk about?”

His voice was calm and polite, so warm that it was hard to believe he could ever be cold or arrogant.
