Greg’s voice was calm but firm. “I just want to ask, Mr. Hawthorne, what will it take for you to let Felicia go?”

Max’s ski goggles hid his eyes, making him impossible to read. He just said, “You heard what Anne said a minute ago, Greg.”

Greg tightened his fists. “Anne has no idea what you did to her mother.”

Max turned to face him. “When Anne’s ready to let her go, I’ll give her the divorce.”

At the hospital, Yvonne was being discharged. Andrea linked arms with her, walking slowly toward the main entrance.
