When Felicia got home that night, Ava was waiting for her in the living room.

“Mom.”

“Felicia, you’re back.”

Ava nodded at the housekeeper, who brought over a cup of milk. Felicia slipped onto the couch right next to her mom, wrapped her arm around Ava, and leaned in with a little grin. “Thanks, Mom.”

Ava shook her head, smiling. “You don’t have to thank me. You’re my girl.”

Felicia’s smile grew. “You always spoil me.”

The housekeeper set the soup down in front of her. Ava glanced at Felicia, her tone gentle but serious. “I saw what happened online today. The rumors were erased fast, but I still caught some news.”

Felicia hesitated. She hated making her parents worry, but Ava had already seen it. She had to explain.

As Felicia talked, Ava’s face darkened. She had a feeling from the start that someone was targeting Luke on purpose.

“If it blew up online, who’s behind it? Who’s trying to mess with you and Luke?”

Felicia answered quietly, “Andrea’s mother.”

Ava’s expression changed instantly. Her eyes flashed with anger, and there was something sad and incredulous there too. The thought that a mother could do that to her own daughter was almost too much to believe.

Felicia didn’t notice the storm in Ava’s eyes. She went on, “She probably wants to ruin my reputation so Max will divorce me.”

Ava let out a cold laugh. “As if she doesn’t know what her own daughter is like. She actually thinks Andrea can marry Max? If that’s what she wants, then you’re not getting a divorce just yet. Let’s see how long those two can stand it. Maybe we’ll drive them crazy first.”

Felicia squeezed her mom’s arm, trying to calm her down. “Don’t let them get to you, Mom. They’re not worth your anger.”

They sat together, talking for a while longer.

“Alright, go get some rest,” Ava finally said.

“Yvonne.”

Yvonne’s face went cold. “What do you want?”

“I want to know if you even deserve to be called a mother. Seriously, what kind of heartless woman does this to her own daughter?” Ava’s voice was sharp. “You abandoned her once, and now you want to ruin her again?”

“And your own daughter can’t even hold onto a man after all these years. She’s so useless, honestly, maybe she should just give up.”

Yvonne snapped, “Are you done?”

Ava didn’t back down. “Done? I could chew you out for days and it still wouldn’t be enough. You want your daughter to take Felicia’s place? Let me tell you, we’re not getting divorced. Let’s see how you handle that. If you think you can make Max divorce Felicia, go ahead and try it . Otherwise, you can both just sit there and stew.”

Ava hung up. She breathed out, long and deep, and felt a little lighter after letting it all out.

On the other end, Yvonne was shaking with rage. No one had ever dared speak to her like that. Furious, she threw her phone across the room.
