Darin looked Felicia straight in the eyes. “Evelynn, if Andrea said something out of line, you could’ve just called her out. There was no reason to do that in front of everyone.”

Felicia rolled her eyes. “Honestly, even saying one more word to her feels like a waste of my time. I told you, every time I see her, I’ll slap her again. You should really tell her to stay away from me. And if you have a problem with that, Mr. Foxhall, bring it to me. I’m curious how many deals you can land for her anyway.”

That was the end of it for Felicia. She didn’t want to waste another second.

“Savannah, let’s go,” she said and marched off.

Savannah hurried after her.

Darin just stood there, watching them leave.

“Darin…” Andrea’s voice trembled as she called out to him, clearly on the verge of tears. “You have to help me.”

Darin glanced down at her, his tone gentler now. “Go clean yourself up first.”

Felicia and Savannah took the elevator upstairs.

Savannah was fuming. “It’s so obvious Darin’s pulling strings for Andrea. He just wants her to look good.”

She scoffed. Everyone knew Andrea was all style and no substance. Honestly, she should have slapped her harder.

Felicia hadn’t expected Darin to play it this way. So this was his plan, using Andrea to get back at her. Now, that’s what you call a protective brother.

Meanwhile, in another private room, Darin was still surprised Andrea’s proposal had actually won the CoreTech merger. That was why he’d come to this dinner, to get the full story.

Mr. Torres from CoreTech was full of praise for Andrea. “Miss Curtis, you’re so talented for your age. You’ll be a huge support to your brother, I’m sure. The future is bright for you, haha.”

Andrea smiled politely. “You’re too kind, Mr. Torres. I still have a lot to learn. I’m just grateful you liked my proposal. Thank you for trusting me. Here’s to you.”

She raised her glass for a toast, and Mr. Torres clinked his with hers.

On the way out, Felicia’s phone rang. It was Jeremy.

“Did CoreTech’s people come by today to cancel the deal?”

She hadn’t told him about it, so he must’ve heard from someone else at work.

“I set up another meeting for tomorrow,” Felicia replied.

She already knew how things would probably turn out, but she wasn’t about to quit before the final moment. Even if the odds were slim, she had to try.

“So, did they find a better partner?”

Felicia leveled with him. “Darin’s involved. He’s just doing it to back up Andrea.” Her voice dripped with sarcasm.
