Jeremy blinked in surprise. “Then I’ll come with you tomorrow.”

Felicia shook her head. “You don’t need to, Jeremy. Savannah and I will talk with them first.”

This was her job, and there was no reason for Jeremy to step in.

He knew Felicia was stubborn about handling things herself. She always insisted on solving her own problems. Sometimes, he thought she didn’t have to be so tough, but he never forced the issue.

“Alright. If anything happens, call me.”

“I will.”

After they hung up, Jeremy still had his team check on CoreTech’s situation. He’d already gone through the merger plan. If things went smoothly, everything should be wrapped up before the end of the year.

Felicia’s team had beaten Darin’s company, Keystone Solutions, for this project. Now, out of nowhere, CoreTech wanted to back out, even if it meant a loss, and switch to working with Andrea’s company. That only made sense if Darin was offering them a deal so good it actually made up for the loss and then some.

But Darin hadn’t made any such offer, and Jeremy doubted he’d change his mind. As far as he knew, Darin might spoil Andrea, but he never treated business like a joke.

Something about this just felt off.

Jeremy made a call, asking for a closer look at CoreTech.

Meanwhile, Felicia’s phone rang. It was Max.

“Are you still at work?”

“What’s up?” Felicia kept her tone cool.

“Anne’s at Yara’s place,” Max said. “We’re heading over to pick her up now.”

He listened to the empty line, then set his phone down. Just as he was about to put it away, it buzzed again. He looked at the screen, answered, and held the phone to his ear.

Andrea’s voice was bright and excited. “Max, I have great news.”

“What’s the good news?” Max asked.

Andrea couldn’t hide her excitement. “I landed a project today.”

“You’re picking things up fast. What kind of project?”

Her pride came through loud and clear, as if she wanted to prove she was just as good as Felicia.

“A merger,” she said. “Max, will you celebrate with me?”
