She squeezed out a drop and let it fall onto her own fingertip.

Yvonne’s blood was bright red.

Blood from the fingertip is capillary blood, and if it appears bright red, that generally means it’s normal.

But when Scarlett leaned in to smell it, her expression changed slightly.
