Chapter 182 The Path of Strength
“If you really wanted to sponsor her, you could’ve done it after the show. Why are you even dumber than Hazel? Can’t you see something that obvious?”
They had all seen it.
Of course, Brianna saw through that, too.
But she was just using the opportunity to take a shot at Scarlett.
Why did Nelson have to jump in and ruin it?
[Hahah! Brianna just got roasted again.]
[Nelson’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?]
[Hazel was putting on a show. Like we can’t tell? But hey, if she’s willing to give the money, who cares if it’s for show or not.]
[Even if it’s for show, Hazel will definitely follow through. No matter what, she can help Ena change her fate. Unlike Scarlett, who just talks.]
[Oh wow, Hazel’s fans just admitted their girl was putting on a show.]
“So, you’re saying I’m putting on a show? Then what’s your brilliant plan? How are you going to help Ena go to school and live the life she wants?”
Hazel was furious now, nearly losing control.
But she didn’t dare argue too hard.
Yes, she was performing for the cameras.
So what? If it still helped Ena, what was the problem?
“I have a way.”
Scarlett looked at Ena.
What Ena needed wasn’t to escape her family.
She couldn’t.
What she needed was the strength to stand against them.
Everyone turned toward Scarlett at once.
Selina leaned forward eagerly. “Scarlett, what is it?”
She already knew throwing money at the problem wouldn’t work, and she was worried sick about Ena’s
future.

Scarlett reached out and gently ruffled Ena’s hair. “Make Ena stronger.”
If she grew strong enough that they couldn’t ignore her, couldn’t decide her life for her–everything would change.
Brianna rolled her eyes.
“Easy for you to say. Who doesn’t know that being strong solves everything? But she’s 12 years old. She barely looks nine. How exactly is she supposed to be strong? With what?”
“Martial arts,” Scarlett said calmly.
The guests froze.
They stared at her like she’d just grown a second head.
Brianna let out a sharp laugh. “Martial arts? Scarlett, do you hear yourself? How’s she supposed to learn? Hire a master? Do you know how many years that takes?
“Her parents won’t even let her go to school. You think they’ll let her train in martial arts? This is ridiculous. You might as well not have said anything.”
Scarlett arched a brow.
“Who said she has to leave town? And who said it takes years?”
Hazel suddenly stiffened, eyes widening. “You–you’re not saying you’re going to teach her yourself, are you?”
Scarlett actually knew martial arts?
They’d lived together for five years. How had she never known?
Had she learned it back in her hometown?
Hazel’s thoughts spiraled.
Scarlett ignored her completely.
She turned back to Ena and crouched down slightly so they were eye level.
“Ena, do you want to rely on yourself–or on someone else?”
Martial arts was the fastest way to build real strength.
Strength mattered. Especially for girls.
Right now, it was the most effective solution.
She had read Ena’s face.
Her mother was timid and powerless. Her father was petty, incompetent, arrogant, and violent.

A man like that saw his wife and daughter as property.
Ena didn’t need to defeat the whole world. She only needed to stand up to one man.
Scarlett wasn’t suggesting Ena beat him.
But once she grew stronger, his fists would never land on her again.
Ena looked at Scarlett, eyes bright and steady. “I want to rely on myself.”
Scarlett asked, “Even if that means martial arts?”
Ena nodded firmly. “Yes. I want to learn from you, Scarlett.”
