Chapter 311 Silver Lining
The most important thing right now was figuring out whose astrological chart it was.
Who exactly was trying to steal their family’s fortune?
He said, “Darren, I’ll send you this astrological chart. Can you check it now?”
Darren replied, “Alright. Send it to me. I’ll look into it right away. We should have an answer soon. Scarlett’s with you, right? I have something I want to ask her.”
Tad had the call on speaker, so not only did Scarlett hear Darren’s words–everyone else did too.
Scarlett spoke up from the side. “Darren, I’m here. What did you want to ask me?”
Darren immediately said, “Scarlett, first, I need to thank you. If it weren’t for you, the Macks would’ve beer finished.”
Otherwise, who would understand this kind of occult practice? Who would even know the occult could be used to harm people?
They would’ve just thought their family had been having a run of bad luck lately.
Even if their whole family had eventually fallen apart, they’d probably have blamed it on fate.
Scarlett said, “Darren, you don’t have to thank me. We’re all from the same town. Besides… Jewel and I grew up together.”
When she mentioned Jewel, Scarlett’s gaze darkened slightly.
But it wasn’t for any other reason–she had suddenly remembered how strangely Jewel had been acting.
She and Jewel really had been childhood friends.
You could even say they had once been very close.
When she was 13, she went to live with the Baileys. Back then, she didn’t have a phone, so she lost contact with Jewel.
After moving to the city for school, she could only come home during holidays to visit Hendrix and Rory
Sometimes, Jewel wasn’t home, or other things came up. Other times, Scarlett’s family was too busy. They always seemed to miss each other.
In short, over those three years, the two of them barely saw each other at all.
Until more than two years ago.
Jewel also came to Brookriver to attend high school.
At first, Jewel had been very happy to see her.

But gradually, Jewel began distancing herself from Scarlett, even showing hints of dislike.
Instead, she started getting very close to Hazel.
There was something strange about Leona and Hazel.
Scarlett didn’t know whether Jewel’s sudden change had anything to do with Hazel.
No matter what, she still needed to see Jewel in person.
Only then would she know what was going on with her, and whether it had anything to do with this incident.
She wanted to know whether Jewel’s hostility toward her really had something to do with Leona and Hazel.
“Scarlett, thank you,” Darren sighed. “There’s one more thing I wanted to ask. Now that this object buried at our family tomb has been dug up, will it still affect our family in the future? Don’t worry, Scarlett–I‘]] make sure you’re properly compensated.”
Living in Jyncrest City, Darren knew that powerful oracles charged extremely high fees.
After all, when someone like that helped others, they were essentially revealing heavenly secrets and interfering with the laws of the universe. That kind of thing could bring serious consequences upon themselves.
At least, that was how he understood it.
One such expert he’d once met had been blind.
As for why a girl not even 20 years old could be so skilled and understand the occult so well…
Darren had no intention of digging into it.
Maybe she had encountered some kind of extraordinary opportunity in life.
She had helped his family, which placed them in her debt. There was no need to pry into anything else
Scarlett said, “Darren, don’t worry. That object’s already been removed. It was only buried recently, so the impact isn’t significant. Leave the pit I dug open for now and let it air out naturally for a few days
“After that, bury an emerald in that spot and leave it there for 49 days. Once the 49 days are over, dig the emerald back up and leave it under direct sunlight to dry. After that, you can use the emerald however you want. It won’t have any further effects.”
The object had only been buried for a few days, so a simple remedy would be enough.
If it had been buried for a full month, things would’ve been much harder to fix
By then, the dark geomantic energy of the residence would’ve been half destroyed already, and repairing it would’ve been extremely difficult.
Darren immediately said, “Alright, I understand, Scarlett. What kind of emerald do we need?”

Scarlett replied, “Just an ordinary emerald with some natural impurities will do. It doesn’t need to be high quality.”
After that call ended.
Night had already fallen completely.
The surroundings were pitch–black. With the deep forest around them, the freshly dug grave, and the whole matter of someone stealing a family’s fortune, only now did everyone belatedly start to feel a little frightened.
Someone quietly said, “It’s getting late. Is this whole thing resolved now? Can we head back?”
‘Is it really resolved? We still don’t know who stole the Macks‘ fortune.”
‘Let’s go down the mountain first. Darren’s already investigating whose astrological chart it is. We’ll find out soon enough.”
‘I’m really curious who could be this vicious, stealing someone else’s fortune. Could it really be someone he Macks know?”
‘If it really is someone they know, what happens then? Can this even be reported to the police?”
The police probably won’t do anything. Stuff like this would just be dismissed as superstition. Reporting it wouldn’t help. Tad would just have to swallow the loss and be more careful in the future.”
Honestly, it’s lucky Scarlett discovered it. If she hadn’t… I don’t even wanna imagine what might’ve happened to Tad’s family.”
As they talked, everyone had already begun walking down the mountain.
Scarlett glanced at the dark sky, knowing Hendrix and Rory were likely worried at home.
