Chapter 387 She Can Handle It
“No. Elliot said she didn’t need to attend training,” someone murmured.
Quiet gossip rippled through the crowd.
Most of the women who saw Scarlett in costume blushed, unable to help themselves.
She was simply too arresting to ignore.
Elliot finished his scene and brought Jordan over to meet her.
Jordan’s face lit up as he greeted Scarlett with genuine warmth.
“Scarlett, you’re here.”
Scarlett was actually younger, but she’d started in the industry before him, so everyone regarded her as their senior.
She smiled and asked, “How’s the set treating you?”
Jordan had already spent over half a year with the crew.
He blushed, scratching the back of his head. “Not bad. Elliot’s praised my progress and says my performance is improving.”
Anyone headed for stardom always has their merits.
Elliot joined them and announced, “You two have a scene together. Go get ready.”
He looked Scarlett up and down, clearly satisfied.
She fit his vision of a general perfectly.
He’d seen her as Princess Mona in “The Ancestor,” all light and grace.
Now, she was all ferocity and command–no trace of the old character remained.
Soon, the set was ready for the next scene.
This was a fight sequence.
It was a duel between Duo and the male lead.
Both played generals, but their values clashed, so arguments were common.
This time, they’d settle things with a sparring match in the training yard.
Despite their rivalry, a mutual respect simmered beneath the surface.
Duo was unfettered and laid–back, just as she’d been before joining the military.

Not even military life had changed her easygoing spirit.
Her personality was the polar opposite of the male lead’s seriousness.
The set was crowded with onlookers, eager for the show.
The male lead fought with a sword, while Duo wielded a long spear.
Both wore heavy black armor that weighed dozens of pounds.
Everyone admired Jordan’s hard work and thought he might even upstage Scarlett.
But only Jordan knew how tense he felt inside.
He’d seen Scarlett audition for Elliot once. Even with a wooden stick, her presence was chilling.
This scene had almost no lines.
They faced off on the platform, eyes locked.
Duo stood tall and dashing, her spear slung across her back.
The male lead gripped his sword, looking gallant even in the weighty armor.
Their faces were both grim with focus.
Duo made the first move and raised her hand, the spear spinning so nimbly it seemed alive.
The crowd held its breath.
The very next instant, something even more shocking happened.
With a flick, the spear lashed out like a serpent.
She was so swift, her movements blurred beyond comprehension.
The male lead couldn’t react at all.
When everyone finally processed it, Duo’s spearpoint hovered at his throat.
It took a single move.
He was utterly defeated.
Jordan’s face went pale as chalk.
He looked at Scarlett with a helpless, almost pleading expression.
First scene, and she didn’t pull any punches.
For a split second, he actually wondered if she meant to kill him.
He couldn’t move at all when the spear came for him.

Scarlett touched her nose and said, “Sorry.”
She hadn’t meant to scare him; she just couldn’t break the habit of fighting for real.
Jordan mustered a weak smile. “Scarlett, please go easy on me.”
Whispers broke out around them.
“Why didn’t Jordan dodge?”
“Are you kidding? Could you move if it had been you? I was standing close, and my heart stopped when that spear came at him–there was real killing intent.”
“I felt it too. It was terrifying.”
“Everyone’s seen how hard Jordan’s worked, but not even he could parry Scarlett’s strike. She’s on another level.”
“Now I get why the director never made her train–she didn’t need it.”
Elliot clapped his hands, unable to hide his excitement. “Alright, let’s try it again.”
Scarlett’s fight scenes would leave audiences breathless.
But actually filming them took real effort.
She never truly held back, and no one could match her.
Even when she tried to restrain herself, it took several takes to get it right.
Elliot’s guess came out accurate.
There was always an undercurrent of menace in her movements, impossible to disguise.
Fortunately, Jordan was a skilled actor too, and together they pulled off the scene.
After that, no one questioned Scarlett’s abilities again.
Scarlett stayed on with the crew.
Conditions here were far harsher than during “The Ancestor.”
With snow and isolation, daily life was rough.
Yet nobody complained. Everyone was determined to give their all and believed their hard work would pay off.
Scarlett wrapped up all her scenes in ten days.
The set was so remote that she never ran into fans or bloggers, so unlike before, there were no leaked photos online.
