Chapter 72 Waking Up Hungry
It felt like something had always stopped her from taking that last step.
But this time, the trouble turned into a strange kind of luck.
Scarlett smiled faintly.
Then her stomach growled.
She realized she hadn’t eaten in three days.
Scarlette got up, took a quick shower, and changed her clothes.
When she stepped out of the room, everyone was chatting in the lounge.
The door opened. People turned around.
“It’s Scarlett!” Selina cheered and jumped to her feet, running over. “Scarlett, you’re finally awake!”
Over the past few days, the crew had checked on Scarlett from time to time.
To see if she was still breathing. Still alive.
But Selina had been worried sick.
She was truly afraid something might happen to her.
Scarlett had said she would wake up in three days, and she did.
Selina had been taking the supplement Scarlett gave her everyday.
From the very first night, her sleep started to improve.
Before, she went to bed early but woke up in the middle of the night again and again. She dreamed nonstop and felt like she never really slept.
During the day, her head felt heavy. Even naps didn’t help.
Now, she fell asleep at 11:00 p.m. and woke up at 6:00 a.m. sharp.
Clear–headed. Full of energy.
It felt like the world had changed.
Selina loved this feeling.
She didn’t usually look great without makeup. After just three days, her skin already looked better.
She was sure that if she kept taking Scarlett’s supplement, her skin would look amazing.
So, she was deeply grateful to Scarlett.

Scarlett smiled. “I’m fine. Just really hungry. Have you all eaten? I’ll treat everyone to dinner–except Zayden and Brianna. I’ll go buy groceries.”
The moment she said that, several guests couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.
Brianna shot Scarlett a glare but didn’t dare say anything.
Selina raised her hand right away. “Me, me! Scarlett, I’ll eat! I’ll chip in 200 dollars for groceries.”
Scarlett hadn’t earned that money easily.
She had coughed up blood and stayed in bed for three days.
Selina had been working as a zookeeper over the past few days. It was tiring, and she only made about 200 dollars a day.
She had already eaten dinner, but she missed Scarlett’s cooking.
Nelson and Adam raised their hands too. “Count us in. We’ll add 200 dollars each.”
They all remembered how hard it was for Scarlett to earn that first reading.
As for the second reading, they didn’t even know if Callie had paid yet.
They couldn’t just eat for free.
Scarlett looked at Simon. “What about you?”
Simon shook his head. “Thanks, but no. I already ate. I don’t do late–night snacks.”
Scarlett nodded. “Alright. Let’s go buy groceries. You don’t need to pay. I have money.”
They didn’t know Zoey had already given Scarlett cash.
Scarlett turned to Michael and asked calmly, “Mr. Woods, money given as a tip for good work can count as program funds, right?”
Michael froze.
“Wait–didn’t your readings cost 200 dollars each? That day you only did two readings, so 400 dollars in total. And we’re not sure the second reading had been paid. Where would extra money come from?”
He didn’t believe it. The first week, Scarlett got lucky and ran into a home–invasion murder case, carning a big reward.
Could she really be that lucky again in the second week and win some tips?
Unless her second reading was right.
If Scarlett was right and Callie really was Zoey’s biological daughter, Zoey would never pay just 200
dollars.

Michael felt a spark of excitement.
Look at that–here comes the topic.

Over the past few days, the internet had been flooded with people attacking Scarlett, saying she made things up and was too scared to show her face.
Then Scarlett fell into deep sleep, and her livestream stayed offline.
Viewership dropped a lot.
