The second week came to an end. All the live–streaming equipment was shut down.

Michael stood at the zoo gate and smiled at the guests. “Thank you, everyone. That’s it for the week. I hope you all have a great weekend. We’ll see you next week.”

Most of them were in good spirits today.

All except Brianna.

She truly hated the zoo.

The smell of animals clung to everything. It was awful. She couldn’t stand it.

But at least it was over. She could finally go home.

Brianna was just about to head for the production van when Michael spoke again.

“Sorry, everyone. I need to talk to Scarlett for a bit. I’m afraid this may hold you up.”

Brianna frowned at once. She smelled terrible and only wanted a long shower.

And now they had to wait for Scarlett again.

“So annoying,” she muttered under her breath. “Why does everyone always have to—”

She was about to say wait for Scarlett.

But before the words left her mouth, Scarlett glanced at her.

Brianna froze. She remembered Monday. That morning, she had complained about Scarlett making everyone wait.

And Scarlett had grabbed her by the throat,

Brianna touched her neck without thinking. She shut up at once.

Scarlett turned back to Michael. “What is it? Actually, I have something I want to ask you too.”

Michael nodded. “Yes. I wanted to talk to you as well.”

He led her to a quiet corner, away from the others.

Scarlett followed.

Michael scratched his head, a little awkward. “Scarlett, it’s like this. I want to ask, how did you tame that tiger? My friend owns the zoo. I was hoping you could give me some advice on animal training.”

Scarlett raised an eyebrow. “As it happens, I want to meet the zoo owner too. I’d like to talk about a partnership.”

“A partnership?” Michael blinked.

Scarlett nodded. “Yes. A partnership that could bring this zoo back to life.”

Michael’s eyes lit up. “Great. I’ll take you to see him.”

That was part of the reason Michael had stopped Scarlett. He wanted to know if she had a special way to handle the tiger.

He wanted her to teach this method to his friend. Not to tame the animals in the zoo, but just to help them become a little calmer and more friendly. If the animals could interact more with people, even just a bit, it would bring a lot of attention and traffic to the zoo.

Michael asked the crews to take the other guests back.

That evening, he planned to drive Scarlett back to Brookriver himself.

Once everyone had left, Michael took Scarlett to meet his friend.

His friend’s name was Forrest Parkinson.

He was also at the zoo that day, as always.

Forrest came every single day.

When Michael and Scarlett arrived, Forrest was in his office, talking on the phone.

“Honey, I’ll be home by six,” Forrest said warmly. “What do you feel like eating tomorrow? I’ll grab groceries later and cook for you.”

The other side said something. Forrest smiled and hung up.

When he turned around, his round face was still full of warmth. Seeing Michael, the smile lines on his face deepened.

“Michael, why are you still here?”

Michael laughed. “Just called your wife?”

Forrest chuckled. “Yeah. If you’re not heading back tonight, come stay over. I’ll make a big dinner

tomorrow.”

Michael knew Forrest’s wife well. They had gone to the same university.

She often complained, half–joking, that she’d divorce Forrest if he kept pouring money into his “broken zoo.” But she never meant it.

In fact, she often helped support him.

Michael waved his hand. “Let’s talk about dinner later. I’m here for something serious. This is Scarlett- you know her. She worked at your zoo today.”

Forrest looked at Scarlett.
