The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 100

Nathalie stared at her with a cold, unreadable expression before suddenly glancing toward a corner of the office. There, someone was holding up a phone, sneaking a photo.

Without missing a beat, she strode right over, her eyes razor sharp. “Taking my picture without asking is invasion of privacy. Are you looking to get sued?”

Flustered, the guy stammered, “I—I wasn’t taking pictures of you. Honest. I was just taking a selfie.”

“Oh? Is that so?” Nathalie’s voice was icy. “If I see any videos or pictures from today show up online, I’ll know exactly who did it and I will absolutely take legal action. Don’t think I’m bluffing. I can easily hire a whole team of lawyers. I have all the time in the world.”

She flashed a tiny smirk. “And from what I see, you all seem pretty free too. I’m sure you’ve got time to deal with a lawsuit, right?”

A nervous silence fell over the office. Faces shifted and lips tightened. The guy with the phone looked like he wanted to melt into the floor. He was just a normal staffer, not someone who could handle a legal battle with her.

Suddenly, something must have clicked because he remembered Nathalie’s connection to Lance. Lance, who had come to pick her up from work. The CEO of Adams Group, in the flesh. And she hadn’t even bothered to be polite to him. That had to mean their relationship was anything but ordinary.

Panic flickered across his face. He fumbled to unlock his phone and shoved it at Nathalie. “See, look, I’ve deleted everything. I promise I won’t post anything. I’m really sorry.”

He surrendered so fast it was almost funny.

Across the room, the girl who was still kneeling visibly tensed up, her face draining of color.

Nathalie swept her gaze around the room, reading every expression, then zeroed in on the kneeling girl. “Are you done down there? Mind getting out of the way?”

The girl’s face twisted, a mix of anger and humiliation burning in her eyes. She scrambled to her feet, shot Nathalie a poisonous look, and marched out without saying a word.

Nathalie stepped closer, her voice low and cutting. “Felice James, if you’d just keep your head down and mind your own business, I’d happily pretend you don’t exist. But you want to play dirty? Fine. Just don’t blame me when I’m not nice. If you really think you have what it takes, go ahead and try to get Lance to divorce me. If I don’t have him, maybe I’ll back off. Until then, bring it.”

Felice’s whole body trembled. She clung to her coffee-soaked laptop so tightly her hands shook, like she was fighting the urge to throw it at Nathalie’s head.

Watching her hold it in so hard, Nathalie actually got bored. She gave Felice a cool, dismissive glance. “You might want to step up your game. If you keep slacking, some other woman is going to steal Lance right from under you.”

Then she turned and walked away, heading back to her desk.

Felice was shaking with rage. She pulled out her phone, snapped a photo of her wrecked laptop, and posted it to her social media — only letting her family see.
