“Let me go, Lance. I can’t eat like this,” Nathalie said, her voice calm but a little annoyed.
Lance glanced at her, eyes steady. “I can feed you.”
Nathalie scoffed. “Why not just put a leash on me? Then I really couldn’t go anywhere.”
His eyes grew darker, more intense. “Trust me, Nathalie, it’s not like I haven’t thought about it.”
She yanked her hand out of his grip and shot him a glare. “Get lost.”
With that, she spun around and walked away, her red dress catching the light, turning heads all across the crowded room.
Lance stayed a beat, watching her, then followed right behind, matching her pace, wanting everyone to see he was with her.
He didn’t get far before an attendant stepped in front of him. “Excuse me, Mr. Charles. Felice would like to see you. She said it’s important.”
Lance’s face went cold. “Where is she?”
“Please follow me, sir.”
Felice was waiting in the lounge, sitting perfectly poised. When she saw Lance, her face turned soft with a warm smile. “Lance, where’s Nathalie?”
He kept his tone neutral. “Probably off amusing herself somewhere.”
Felice let out a sigh. “Nathalie must have misunderstood again. After the banquet, let’s go explain everything, alright? I don’t want her to be upset.”
Lance sat down, folding his arms. “So, Felice. What’s this about?”
Lance nodded. “Alright.”

It took Damaris a while to track Nathalie down, but she finally found her and tugged her off to a quiet corner. “I checked around,” she whispered. “Turns out, Felice started her own media company. She’s here to work out a partnership, and that Harden guy has all these famous directors and actors under him. Lance is helping introduce her to the right people.”
Nathalie blinked, completely thrown. “How did you find all that out?”
Damaris shrugged. “If it’s about you, you bet I’ll be thorough. But seriously, what does that woman want? She starts a company. Is she trying to get The Blair Group to invest? If she actually pulls this off, what then? Are your parents really going to hand her the reins to The Blair Group?”
Nathalie looked down, chest tight, feeling like it was getting hard to breathe. Her voice was barely above a whisper. “Damaris, my parents are helping her. Lance is helping her. What chance do I have?”
