Olivia’s brows pulled together right away. “Who’s Freddy talking to?”
The assistant glanced at Lance before answering, “It’s… Nathalie.”
Olivia froze, honestly confused. When did Freddy even get to know Nathalie?
Felice, who’d heard everything, turned to Lance and tried to smile. “Lance, Nathalie really is impressive. She managed to meet Freddy before any of us.”
Up until now, Lance had looked distant, like nothing could ruffle him, but at Felice's words, his brows drew tight in a sharp frown.
He stood up so suddenly the seat barely made a sound, then walked out of the room.
“Lance…”
Felice hurried after him.
Olivia stood too, trailing them purely out of curiosity. She needed to see what was happening for herself.
When they finally got outside, the balcony was completely empty. Freddy and Nathalie had already vanished.
Garrison was waiting nearby. As soon as he spotted Olivia, he stepped up. “Olivia, Freddy wanted me to let you know he’s heading out early. You’re in charge for the rest of tonight.”
Olivia frowned. “Where did he go?”
Garrison answered, “I have no idea.”
She stared at him, not buying it for a second. How could Freddy’s assistant not know where he went? Clearly, Freddy didn’t want anyone to know.
Olivia managed a polite smile. “Alright, thanks. You can get back to your work.”
“Of course.”
She turned to Lance. “Lance, you wanted to discuss working with The Charles Group earlier. I can talk business with you now.”
Her palms were sweating. Getting to talk business with Lance, standing close to him—this was something she had always dreamed about.
Lance didn’t look her way. Instead, he pulled out his phone and dialed. “Where is she?”
Lance’s voice was icy, his patience gone. He looked at her with such cold anger that Maggie flinched.
Still, thinking of what Madonna wanted to do, Maggie forced herself to speak. “It’s really Madonna. She asked to see you… please, just for a moment.”
Lance’s eyes grew even colder, his annoyance barely hidden. “Are you moving or not? If you don’t, I’ll have someone throw you out right now.”
Maggie went pale. She quickly stepped out of his way.
Lance walked off, an icy, untouchable air hanging around him.
Maggie stood frozen, her face drained of color. Suddenly, she started to question everything. Was this dangerously unpredictable man really someone she should be helping?
She headed back to Madonna and quietly shared what happened, still looking shaken.
Madonna’s brows drew together in thought when she heard the story. She took out her phone and tried to call Lance.
This time, he didn’t even give her a chance. He hung up right away.
