The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 235

Nathalie felt her breath catch. She raised her eyes, meeting his stare with total calm. “How would I know if I don't try?”

She was completely set on getting that divorce.

Lance's eyes darkened, and the chill in his aura got even sharper. Just being near him made it feel like the air in the room was closing in around her.

He stood up, walking over. The closer he got, the heavier that pressure felt.

“Nathalie, what you're doing really pisses me off,” he said, his voice steady, almost cold.

Nathalie's fingers clenched tight, but her face stayed cool. “So, what are you going to do about it?”

Lance managed a small smile, barely there. “You'll know soon enough.” Without another word, he brushed past her and left the meeting room.

Suddenly, anxiety twisted inside her. But she couldn't back down now. If she got scared off just because of a few threats, then what was the point of everything she'd pushed herself through until now?

So she bit down, shoved the worry aside, and went back downstairs to work.

Addis took one look at her pale face and frowned. “What's up with you? You're totally off your game today.”

Nathalie tried to keep her voice steady. “Maybe I just didn't sleep well.”

Addis wasn't buying it. “How many times have I told you, don't let your personal garbage spill over at work. If you keep this up, I'll find someone who can actually stay focused.”

Taking a deep breath, Nathalie said, “I'll get it together, I promise.”

But Addis just waved her off. “That's enough. Head out, take the rest of the afternoon off.”

For a second, Nathalie just stood there, a bit stunned.

Addis was already walking away.

She couldn't help thinking, wow, talk about tough love. Rough voice, soft heart.

Nathalie was already on her feet, face drained and jaw tight as she reached for her shoes. “Where are you?”

“BlueNight.”

Outside, the night was thick, the wind biting. Once she got out of the car, the cold cut straight through her.

She rushed inside, pushed open the door to the private room, and immediately caught sight of the chaos. A group of people filled the space. Over near the sofa, a few bodyguards were actually holding Fabian down, one of them tipping alcohol down his throat.

“Stop it!” Nathalie charged over, shoving the bodyguard away from Fabian.

Her sudden entrance made all the bodyguards freeze. No one dared move. They all looked toward the man sitting in the middle of the sofa, waiting for his reaction.

Fabian, finally let go, collapsed against the edge of the sofa. He coughed hard, struggling for air, then retched, alcohol spilling down his chin and sweater.

Nathalie's heart broke at the sight. She grabbed some tissues, wiping his face, her voice shaking with worry. “Are you okay? Fabian, talk to me.”
