Nathalie retracted her probing gaze and buried her lingering doubts.
Since it was getting late, they split the bill and went their separate ways.
When Nathalie got back to her car, Nicol was already sitting in the driver’s seat. “Did you notice anything off about him, Ms. Blair?”
Nathalie shook her head. “His reaction felt genuine. He really has no motive to stop the divorce.”
“Then it has to be Freddy,” Nicol concluded.
“Yeah.”
Nathalie nodded, making a mental note to test Freddy’s reaction soon.
The car glided into the underground parking garage of The Observatory.
Nathalie pushed the door open to step out, only to find a tall figure blocking her path. Before she could react, a strong hand clamped around
her wrist.
Startled, she looked up and met Lance’s eyes.
Her elegant brows immediately knitted together in frustration. She yanked her arm. “What are you doing? Let me go!”
Nicol scrambled out of the car, rushing over to intervene. “Hey, back off!”
Lance shot Nicol an icy, terrifying glare. Nicol flinched involuntarily, but he forced himself to ignore the lethal look and stood his ground.
Are you kidding me?
If he tucked his tail and ran now, Nathalie would fire him on the spot. And Garth would absolutely chew him out!
Lance ignored the bodyguard entirely, lowering his voice to speak only to Nathalie. “Get in my car. We need to talk about the maids. Once we’re

done, you can go.”
Nathalie paused, her mind flashing to the dossier he had sent her.
After a brief moment of calculation, she looked at Nicol. “Wait for me
outside.”
“You got it,” Nicol agreed.
Lance released her wrist and led the way to his vehicle.
Nathalie rubbed her wrist, the phantom warmth of his fingers still lingering on her skin.
She slid into the passenger seat, enveloped by the dim lighting of the
car’s interior.
“What kind of evidence do you have?” she asked.
Lance handed her a thick manila folder. “The one monitoring you is Fabian. The one trying to stop the divorce is Freddy.”
She eyed him suspiciously. “How did you manage to get all these details?”
Lance locked his dark, predatory gaze on her. “Do you trust me?”
Nathalie pressed her lips into a tight line.
Lance continued, “Your replacement IDs will be ready tomorrow. Make a very public post about heading to the Register Office. If another ‘accident‘ happens, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Freddy is behind it.”
He let out a low, dark chuckle. “He’s a very dangerous man. I’ve been telling you to stay away from him this whole time, but ironically, I might have to thank him for this.”
Nathalie snatched the folder, shoved the car door open, and threw a parting shot over her shoulder. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She stormed off without looking back.
Chapter 378
Nicol, who had been holding his breath the entire time, let out a massive
sigh of relief when he saw her emerge unharmed. “Ms. Blair! He didn’t try anything, did he?”
“No.” Nathalie shook her head.
