Chapter 485
They would discuss the plot together, argue over a character’s choices, and, like most couples, they would bicker and then quickly make up. As the memories flooded his mind, a twisted, desperate yearning grew in Lance’s heart.
Why couldn’t they go back to the way things were?
They used to be so deeply in love.
He held her hand, pressing tender, careful kisses against her skin, his gaze filled with dangerous obsession.
The next day, Nathalie received a phone call from Damaris.
“Nathalie… I ran into a bit of a situation here,” Damaris said, her tone hesitant.
Nathalie frowned in confusion. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Damaris let out a heavy sigh. “I took Buster to get his shots today, but I unexpectedly ran into Daniel…”
When Daniel saw Damaris, it was as if he had found a lifeline. He lunged at her, grabbed her arm, and refused to let go, begging her to call Nathalie.
Exhausted from his harassment, Damaris had no choice but to make the
call.
Nathalie’s eyes went icy. “Where are you?”
“The Cats & Dogs Vet Clinic,” Damaris replied.
Nathalie drove straight there. The moment she walked through the doors, she saw Daniel clutching Damaris’s sleeve, refusing to let go, while everyone else in the clinic stared.
Damaris was sitting in a chair, looking utterly dead inside.

“Damaris,” Nathalie called out.
Damaris immediately looked up, her face filled with guilt. “I’m so sorry, Nathalie. I really didn’t know what else to do. He was just…”
“Nathalie! Nathalie, my daughter, Nathalie!” The moment Daniel saw her, he released Damaris and lunged toward Nathalie.
The next second, Nicol stepped in front of him. With one hand, the massive bodyguard grabbed Daniel by the collar and practically tossed him out of the clinic.
“Nathalie, tell him to let me go! I’m your father, Nathalie…” Daniel squawked like a helpless chicken as he was hauled away. Utterly humiliated, he looked at Nathalie, begging for her help.
Nathalie completely ignored him. She walked over to Damaris. “Did he scare you?”
“No, no, I was just really caught off guard.” Damaris shook her head, her expression complicated. “He’s changed so much. The old him would never do something like this.”
Grabbing a girl in public and begging shamelessly-it was mind-boggling. Nathalie offered a faint smile. “If everything is sorted, you should head home first. I’ll take care of this.”
Damaris looked worried. “Nathalie, is this going to cause trouble for you?” Nathalie shook her head. “No. Don’t worry about it.”
Damaris nodded. “Alright. I’ll take Buster home. Come over to my place later.”
“I will.”
