The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Putting herself in Damaris’s shoes, Nathalie could entirely understand her frustration.

Still petting Buster, she suggested, “Why don’t you go talk to Bagot? Ask him what exactly he’s trying to pull.”

Damaris looked over at her. “You think I should?”.

“Since he started this mess, he should be the one to clean it up. The pressure shouldn’t all be on your shoulders,” Nathalie reasoned. What Bagot did was incredibly unfair.

If he didn’t like her, why make up a lie that caused such a huge misunderstanding?

And if he did like her, he should have pursued her openly and honestly.

Now, because of his stunt, Damaris was taking all the heat.

Damaris bit her lip. “Fine. I’m calling him right now.”

Nathalie checked the time. “It’s getting late. I should head home.”

Damaris nodded. “Alright, be careful on the road.”

“I will.”

Once Nathalie left, Damaris immediately dialed Bagot’s number.

It rang three times before connecting, only for her to be greeted by a groggy, sleep-heavy voice.

“Hello? What’s up?”

Damaris demanded, “Bagot, where are you? I need to see you.”

“Huh? Why do you want to see me?” Bagot shifted around, his voice clearing up slightly.

Chapter 489

Damaris gritted her teeth. “Do I really need to remind you what you did, you absolute jerk?”

“Hey now…” Bagot suddenly sounded much more awake, clearly defensive. “What did I do? Why are you cursing at me out of nowhere? You’re being completely unreasonable!”

“I’m the unreasonable one?!” Damaris exploded. “Are you out of your mind? Why would you tell my mom that we’re dating? When did I ever agree to date you? Why didn’t you discuss this with me before running your mouth? Did I consent to this?”

Bagot was stunned into silence by her yelling. It took him a long moment to reply. “I was just trying to help you out.”

“Did I ask for your help?!” Damaris paced furiously around her living room. “We need to meet right now, and we are going to fix this! If we don’t fix this immediately, my parents are going to start planning the wedding!”

Bagot let out a sudden chuckle, though he quickly stifled it. “That’s impossible. It’s just a misunderstanding. I’ll just explain it to them.”

“Then go explain it!” Damaris roared again. “I tried calling you before and you didn’t answer. Were you deliberately ignoring me?”

“No, of course not. I’ve just been swamped lately. I was literally sleeping just now,” Bagot said hurriedly, then cleared his throat. “Fine, let’s meet.

Where?”

Damaris gritted her teeth. “I’ll text you the address. Get over here right

now!”

She hung up the phone aggressively.

But just as she finished throwing on some clothes and preparing to leave, Bagot texted her.

Bagot: *Something came up last minute. I can’t make it tonight. Let’s reschedule.*
