Did she hear that correctly?

The leader of the world’s second-largest mercenary organization-a highly dangerous, ruthless syndicate boss with a body count-was lecturing her about morals?

He had principles, sure, but apparently only when it suited him.

Nathalie couldn’t hold back a sudden burst of laughter.

Lawrence’s eyes widened in offense. “What are you laughing at? Did I say something funny? You have absolutely zero manners!”

Nathalie quickly waved her hands in mock surrender. “No, no, I think you’re completely right. I’ll be sure to keep my distance from him.”

But the moment the words left her mouth, a heavy arm wrapped securely around her waist. A second later, Lance leaned in and pressed a firm, deliberate kiss to her cheek.

Lance shifted his dark, predatory gaze toward Lawrence. “This is my date. I don’t think it’s your place to discipline her.”

“You-!”

Seeing the blatant display of affection, Lawrence jabbed an accusing finger at him. “You really are a piece of trash! I am absolutely telling your wife that you betrayed her! You’re a cheater!”

A faint, mocking smirk played on Lance’s lips. “Go ahead.”

Then, Lance looked down at Nathalie. “Are you scared? My wife is going to find out about you.”

Nathalie shot him a deadpan look.

She had zero interest in playing along with his childish games. Still, watching Lawrence completely lose his temper over it was admittedly

entertaining.

Lawrence was genuinely furious. Before, Lance had been willing to strike a deal with him for the sake of his wife. Now, the man was out here blatantly cheating without a single ounce of remorse.

Disgusted, Lawrence stormed off to the side to drown his sorrows in more alcohol, deciding then and there to limit his interactions with this unfaithful jerk. As for finding his mystery girl, it seemed he was on his

own.

The atmosphere in the VIP booth grew livelief, but Nathalie kept glancing toward the entrance.

About an hour later, the heavy doors opened again. A painfully

ordinary-looking man walked in. He wore thick black-rimmed glasses and immediately scanned the room. Realizing the person he was looking for wasn’t there, he turned on his heel to leave.

But two massive bodyguards materialized behind him, blocking his exit.

The man spun around, alarmed. Sensing the shift in tension, the rest of the wealthy socialites and hangers-on quickly filtered out of the room, leaving only a select few sitting on the sofas.

“Ken. You came all the way to Cabinda, and you didn’t even let me know? I would have hosted a welcome dinner for you,” Lance drawled, his eyes gleaming with dark amusement as he stared at the man by the door.

Ken’s posture went rigid with suspicion. “My contact was Fabian. Why are you here?”

“Fabian was sent overseas to handle some business for me, so I came in his place,” Lance replied smoothly. “You don’t seem very happy to see me.”

Ken adjusted his glasses, trying to keep his composure. “My company doesn’t have any partnerships with The Adams Group. I’m not sure what business we could possibly have.”
