Chapter 494

Chapter 494

Lawrence shot to his feet, instantly realizing it was Bagot who had grabbed the phone.

He stepped into Bagot’s personal space, extending a demanding hand. “Give me the phone!”

That voice.

That voice he had replayed in his head a thousand times over!

He had been searching for so long, and now she was right here on the other end of the line. That was the woman who took his virginity!

Bagot frowned, gripping the phone tightly. “Lawrence, this is my personal phone.”

“Give it!”

Lawrence’s face was completely devoid of its usual arrogant smirk. A terrifying, borderline unhinged desperation swirled in his bright blue

eyes.

Bagot quickly glanced at the screen. The caller ID simply read *Damaris*. Thank God it wasn’t her full name. And luckily, Lawrence barely knew how to read Chinese characters.

Without hesitating, Bagot ended the call and swiftly deleted the log from his recent history. “I can’t give it to you. Like I said, it’s my phone. That was just a random spam caller.”

“I don’t believe you!” Lawrence’s voice grew dangerously stubborn. “Give me the phone right now, or give me the number that just called!”

Bagot felt a heavy wave of pressure bearing down on him, and a sickening realization began to form in his gut.

Chapter 494

Lawrence seemed entirely too familiar with Damaris’s voice.

How was that even possible? They had never met.

But a dark sense of dread took root in Bagot’s chest. His protective instincts flared; he absolutely had to keep Damaris’s identity hidden from this lunatic.

“Why are you so obsessed with my phone?” Bagot forced a casual laugh. “Don’t tell me you actually know the telemarketer who just called?”

A wild, frantic excitement danced in Lawrence’s eyes. “I found her! That’s the girl from that night! I finally found her. Give me the damn phone so I can call her back and confirm it!”

Hearing that, Bagot’s heart plummeted into his stomach.

It was Damaris.

Suddenly, a memory slammed into him-running into Damaris at the hospital a while back. She had been leaving the gynecology department.

She hadn’t been sick. She was definitely there to get medical advice!

As for what kind of advice, Bagot didn’t even want to go down that rabbit

hole.

He gritted his teeth. *Great. Just great.* She had gone through something this massive and hadn’t breathed a word of it to him. Thank God he found out now. If a dangerous psycho like Lawrence got his hands on her, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Pushing down his panic, Bagot put on his best unbothered smile. “It was a spam call, man. All those automated voices sound exactly the same. I promise you, that’s not the girl you’re looking for. See for yourself.”

He unlocked the phone and tossed it to Lawrence, pulling up a fake blocked-caller screen to prove his point.

Refusing to believe a word of it, Lawrence tore through the phone’s recent
