Nathalie stared at her, utterly bewildered. "Octavia, what are you talking about?"
"Right... well, here's what happened."
Octavia quickly brought her up to speed on the events from last night.
By the time she finished, Nathalie was frozen in shock.
Felice poisoned Jasper?!
Wasn't she his mother? How could she do something so monstrous?
Nathalie found her voice. "How is Jasper doing now?"
"He's stable for the moment," Bagot's voice drifted over as he walked into the lounge. "I saw him. The poor kid looks awful. Pale face, purple lips. He can barely walk a few steps without needing to sit down. He's incredibly weak."
Bagot's expression twisted into one of sheer disgust. "Felice is a literal psychopath. Poisoning her own flesh and blood just to get her way. Unbelievable."
Nathalie's fingers curled into tight fists.
Jasper's symptoms were exactly the same as her grandmother's.
Even though her grandmother had taken the antidote, the lingering toxins had done permanent damage to her nervous system. She was slower, her mind was prone to fog, and she often zoned out entirely.
Jasper was only three years old. If that poison stayed in his tiny body for too long, the irreversible damage could be catastrophic.
Felice was truly vile. To blackmail Lance, she had weaponized her own child.
Nathalie looked up at Bagot. "Do they know where to find the antidote?"
Bagot shook his head. "Not yet. Lance already has people keeping a close eye on Winnie, that evil old hag. They should figure it out soon."
"I see."
Damaris subtly slid her hand behind his back and gave him a vicious pinch on the waist, only to be met with a solid wall of muscle. Frustrated, she hissed through her teeth, "What the hell is wrong with you? Did you even hear what I just said?"
Her touch sent a sudden, electric jolt through him. Fighting the sudden urge to grab her hand, Bagot nodded mechanically. "Yeah. Uh, yes. I heard you. I totally agree."
Damaris glared at him.
She highly doubted he heard a single word.
Thankfully, the moment passed without arousing too much suspicion, and they began following the photographer's directions.
"Groom, pull her in closer by the waist. Look intimate, you guys are too stiff."
The photographer waved them together.
Watching from the sidelines, Octavia clicked her tongue. "I don't know, they don't look very in love to me. It looks incredibly fake."
