"My guys are tracking them. I haven't heard back yet," Lance replied evenly.
He paused, his gaze narrowing. "What are you planning?"
"I'm going after her." Bagot's eyes burned with fierce determination. "I'm bringing her back. She's easily spooked. She must be absolutely terrified right now."
Lance's brow furrowed in stark disbelief. "You're going after her? And how exactly do you plan on getting her back? You think you can just pry her out of Lawrence's hands? Are you eager to die out there?"
"If I die, I die. I have to do something," Bagot insisted, his voice cracking. "I can't just lay here and let him have her."
Smack!
Octavia stepped forward and smacked him hard on the back of the head. "What kind of delusional garbage is that? 'If I die, I die'? If you get yourself killed and still don't save her, you're just a massive liability! Until you actually have the power to take him down, you sit here and lick your wounds. You only kick down his door when you're strong enough to walk out alive."
Bagot winced, rubbing his head pitifully. "Octavia, do you even care about me? I literally just got shot! Why are you hitting me? Are you even related to me?"
Octavia crossed her arms, sneering. "I ask myself that every day. How can my own brother be this dense? A fake marriage? Honestly, I'd love to crack your skull open and study the absolute vacuum inside."
Bagot bit his tongue.
It was safer to just stay quiet. If he said another word, she would verbally destroy him.
"Your sister is right," Lance interjected smoothly. "Focus on recovering. Once you're fully healed, if you still want to go after him, I won't stop you. Hell, I'll even give you the backup you need. But for now, get your head straight. Damaris is safe. At least for the time being, Lawrence won't lay a hand on her."
Bagot opened his mouth to argue, but a lethal glare from Octavia shut him down instantly.
"Alright, get some rest. Don't agitate the stitches. Heal up quickly so you can actually do something useful," Octavia said, giving his shoulder a surprisingly gentle pat. "I'll handle the parents."
Bagot had been running purely on adrenaline. Hearing her promise, he finally gave a weak nod, his eyes slipping shut as exhaustion dragged him back under.
Lance and Nathalie quietly left the hospital.
