"Would you even care if I were torturing you?"
Lance stared at her coldly. "Can someone like you even feel pain?"
Felice continued shaking her head, muttering her disbelief, but her face grew increasingly ashen. A massive wave of panic and crushing devastation swallowed her whole.
She looked down at her own trembling hands, shaking so violently she could barely recognize them.
She was the one who had personally fed the poison to her son. She had only wanted an excuse to stay by his side—she had no other options left.
She had never actually wanted to ruin his life.
He was the child she had carried for nine months!
He had been her only emotional anchor during her most helpless, agonizing days.
She didn't mean for this to happen...
Felice looked up at Lance, her eyes brimming with desperate tears. "Lance, if he’s like that now, he needs his mother more than ever. Let me take care of him. I promise I'll look after him perfectly. I will never, ever hurt him again."
But Lance was completely done listening to her twisted logic. He turned to the bodyguard standing nearby. "You are his mother, yet every ounce of suffering he has endured came directly from your hands. Since that’s the case, it’s only fair you experience it yourself. Let's see how much you empathize then."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away.
The bodyguard stepped forward, a syringe glinting menacingly in his hand.
Felice scrambled backward, shaking her head frantically. "No, no! You can't do this to me, Lance! I saved your life! You can't do this!"
"Hold her down."
The other men immediately pinned Felice firmly to the chair.
She let out a blood-curdling shriek of agony, thrashing uselessly against their iron grips. She felt the sharp prick of the needle piercing her flesh, the cold liquid pushing into her veins. Panic tore through her, but she was powerless to stop it.
Pure, unadulterated hatred burned in her eyes. It was all their fault!
...
By the time Lance returned to Lumina Grand, Jasper had already seamlessly blended into the household.
Just then, his phone buzzed. He pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and answered. "Hello?"
It was Bagot.
"Lance, I'm pretty much fully recovered. Do you have any news on Damaris? I need to go find her."
Bagot’s voice was laced with frantic urgency. Waiting patiently for over a week had clearly pushed him to his absolute limit.
Lance's gaze darkened. "You're fully healed?" he asked coldly.
"Yes, one hundred percent," Bagot insisted confidently. "If you know where she is, just tell me. I have to bring her back."
Lance spoke flatly, "I'll send someone over to test your combat skills. If you’re truly ready, I'll put you on a flight."
Bagot hesitated, immediately trying to backtrack. "Is that really necessary? I know my own body."
"It’s not up for debate," Lance said, his tone uncompromising.
