Nearby, the park staff were announcing the Starry Sky Concert that evening, featuring a drone performance, but it wouldn't start until seven or eight o'clock.
By then, the desert temperature would drop drastically, requiring heavy winter coats.
"Are you going to stay for the Starry Sky Concert tonight?"
The chatty tourist with the sunglasses walked over again, a faint smile on her lips as she looked at Nathalie curiously.
Nathalie shook her head. "No, I'm leaving now."
"Leaving already? That's so boring." The girl's tone carried a hint of regret. "You haven't even seen anything yet. Wouldn't it be a pity to just leave like this?"
Nathalie's brows furrowed slightly. She felt this girl completely lacked basic boundaries.
Had she not been obvious enough about wanting to be left alone?
She stood up and walked toward the exit. "Enjoy the show. I'm heading out."
The girl stared at her back. "Are you really not going to watch it?"
An inexplicable wave of unease washed over Nathalie, and she instinctively glanced back at the girl in sunglasses.
But the girl had already turned around and was asking the park staff for the concert schedule.
The sun continued to set, and the wind raged across the desert, kicking up sand that blurred her vision.
There were plenty of tourists around, yet she felt a sudden, chilling sensation creep up her spine.
A deep sense of foreboding settled in Nathalie's heart. She suddenly remembered the cold, predatory gaze she had felt watching her at the market the night before.
This feeling was exactly the same.
It wasn't her imagination.
