The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 652

Aaron painted a dire picture, completely omitting Nathalie and focusing on Lance's critical condition. Despite her grudge against Nathalie, Madonna had to save her son. Having already lost one, she couldn't ignore Lance.

"I'll look into it. I'll send you her info when I find her," she said.

"Thank you, ma'am." Aaron hung up, his palms sweaty. Madonna's hatred for Nathalie was intense. But when it came to love, both parties were willing participants. If the boss was willing, who could intervene?

That evening, Madonna sent an email. Elara Lane was back in the country, living with her retired parents in Southport, a small coastal city.

Aaron relayed the news to Lance and Nathalie. Bagot, standing nearby, immediately volunteered. "Which city? Do you have the details? I'll go right now."

Aaron handed him a file. "Everything we have on Elara Lane is in here."

Bagot scanned it. "I'll leave tomorrow."

"I'm going too," the robotic female voice announced.

"Nathalie," Lance called out to her. "Stay with me at the hospital. Let him handle it."

Nathalie typed, "If I go in person, Dr. Lane can assess my condition and decide on a treatment plan." If it was curable, Elara would come back with them. If not, it would save a wasted trip.

"Nathalie is right," Bagot agreed. "Don't worry, Lance. I'll protect her."

Lance replied dryly, "Your presence is exactly why I'm worried."

Aaron cleared his throat. "Uh, Bagot, let's discuss our strategy. This Dr. Lane isn't the easiest person to deal with. We need a plan to approach her." He steered Bagot out of the room.

The room fell quiet.

"Nathalie." Lance reached out. Her cool hand slipped into his. With a gentle pull, he drew her close. Nathalie's breath hitched. She pushed lightly against his shoulder, but Lance wrapped his arms around her. "I don't want to be apart from you." His voice was low, laced with yearning. "Not even for a second."

Nathalie froze. She never expected this clingy side of him. Her body stiffened before she grabbed his hand and traced letters on his palm.

[We have to get better.]

They needed to recover quickly. Sylvie Winter hadn't struck again yet, but that didn't mean she wouldn't. They couldn't drop their guard. They had to seize every chance to heal.
